IGN just reviewed it, gave it 9.4 out of 10, and IGN have been mean lately...
Due for release on the 15th according to their site, waiting in anticipation for this one....

HL2 for Xbox is out on the 15. 9.4 is a good score but this game is coming out way too late.
If you hate it, ignore it.

Too late?
I'd love to see you port half life 2 for the xbox.
Farcry 2004
Half life 2 2004 |
And FarCry was pretty lame on the XBOX!

Um.. your point would be...what? I've played both versions and farcry @xbox dig a good job... you may not like the game that's your opinion, but it doesn't change the fact that farcry was indeed playable on the xbox... |
A good job....are you serious? It was one of the most pathetically linear games to come out. FarCry was supposed to be billed as the open environment shooter, and it failed miserably on the XBOX.

If you care to read what I said.. I did play it.. In fact I finished it... yes I agree it's linear.. WHAT DID YOU EXPECT? Did you expect it to run as good as a pc, with endless of paths to choose from?
PC Version wasn't linear if you count multi ways or big jungles to go trough, but in the end a game can only be as big as the system/hardware allows you.
Half life 2 for the xbox.. i haven't played it yet, but I have faith , also check out the IGN review 9.4 It did quite well...
The fact is farcry was playable on the xbox hardware, and hl2 will be the same thing...
Once again you might not like it that's you're opinion.... Still they managed to give the xbox users farcry.. and it was a bit different...
EDIT: A good job means when you port something that's demands high resources but you still manages to run it "acceptable" on the @xbox system.

I think if you ask most Xbox gamers would they rather have conversions of Doom 3, Farcry and Half-Life 2 or not then its obvious that the answer would be a resounding yes in favour of having a conversion even if the game has to scrimp on the high res/high detail textures, some of the ingame physics and lose a little of the size.
Taking into account the system specs (733MHz processor, 64MB of RAM, GeForce 3) and age of the Xbox Doom 3, Doom 3 RoE and Farcry were incredible conversions end of story. Doom 3 included co-op a mode which wasn't even included on the PC and Farcry had interesting multiplayer options in comparison to what was drab bog standard multiplayer mode on the PC plus all 3 games had solid singleplayer.
The fact that some people still persist in comparing the games to their PC counterparts in a non objective manner is pure stupidity as the first comparision made should be the difference in specs between an Xbox and an average PC.

Played the Xboxversion yesterday at EB, they had some preview disc popped into the Xbox and it was suprisingly good. Almost the best looking Xbox game after Ninja Gaiden and the framerate was solid too even though it went down sometimes when there were many enemies on screen. Hopefully it is fixed in the Retail version, if so, then it´s probably the best PC to Console conversion ever made.

No idwea what that twunt was going on about, i thought far cry rocked! and I never played it on the pc, as a lot of xbox owners won't have. To us its just a new game to play, and a bloody good one at that. It was no more "linear" as you put it, than say... halo, which is regarded by most as one of the best games out there.

HL2 great game.. but its not a console shooter. Seems like its just cashing in. You cant have a serious FPS without a mouse and half the fun of HL2 is its multiplayer games/add ons, imagine CS:S with a joypad lol.. I guess its only for people who's PCs are too crap to run HL2

What? That comment "you can't have a serious FPS without a mouse and keyboard" is stupid. Just people you are good at mouse and keyboard and suck at controller doesn't mean that there can't be a serious FPS games on consoles. Halo1/2, Counterstrike, and R6 series have been serious FPS on Xbox. A lot of people are still playing them. I used to play CSS a while ago, but then I just get bored with it. If a lot of people still play Counterstrike on Live, then why not CSS? I like playing FPS on a console because I adapt to controller. I like to sit back and playing HL2 on my couch instead of gluing to the monitor.
If you hate it, ignore it.

You got a point but farcry and hl 2 are indeed on xbox too far from the original one on pc ( The IA is defiantely the biggest lag compare to pc versions ) wich kill the real intreset of what those games was created for , i thought devellopers should have wait to port those 2 titles on Xbox 360 and not on Xbox . But that is also my opinion .

Halo was a pc game at the beginning of itis creation and finaly made his way on xboxfirst and lost lot of interesting stuffs wich were suppose to be in at the beginning , second rainbow six games on consoles are a joke compare to the real pc version ( rainbow six on consoles became to easy and was mad especially for all kind of people to play them so defiantely i dont call that a serious fps ) . But yes some consoles fps are definately serious and mostly those who were made for consoles and wich never came out for pc like timesplitters series , golden eye and such ... But i think with the xbox 360 that now we will probably see real more serious fps since there will be able to made them as there are on pc .

That's your opinion but certainly a lot of people who play on Live will think otherwise. I just don't think that to be a serious FPS you need a mouse and kb, since I am good with controller.

I remember way back when I was first introduced to quakeworld getting used to the wasd/mouse look control system. At first I was a tad ham fisted but with practice it became second nature.
I then blazed thru all the following pc shooters quake,ut,farcry et al.
I tried a few console shooters such as goldeneye, medal of honour but I couldn't get to grips with the control system.
Enter the xbox.
I bought the xbox on a whim, bit of extra cash one month and thought what the hell..
Played halo and wasn't that impressed, sure the vehicles were spiffy but the padding out of levels mid game in order to increase play time bored me.
Enter riddick, the first real console fps that engaged me. I felt comfortable, with the controls now mastered they took a back seat to the game experience.
Enter half life 2, a console conversion done well.
Control system well thought out by the developer.
Left analogue movement
Right analogue "mouse look" still an old time quakehead
D-pad weapon selection
y button interaction
b reload
x sprint
a jump
White button flashlight
Simple intuitive control system, which dissolves into the game experience.
Fps has matured on the consoles.
Bring on the next generation
Oh and btw didn't want to be picky but.. Wasn’t halo developed first as a Mac game?!!? might be wrong
