Is the Deviance release the same as the "Premier Edition"? I don't think the standard version sells as a DVD.

I don't think so. The Bonus CD contains CDA tracks.

u can put shooting hold , just drag the camera icon away from the set and set it down on a empty space , then when ur read to shoot it drag it back

What are they protecting us against? The ability to update the game when they're too lazy to crack the latest update?

My final verdict on this game is that it's overrated.
Played up to the 80's, it's all repetetive, boring, and no real point in continuing.
Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

I thought this game would be so much more simpler. I haven't even played it yet but I watched my brother play and its like so much shit to go through just to make a movie. I might as well just teach my self how to model in 3DS MAX and render an actual movie instead of trying to play this.

The game is actually easy to play. There's a tutorial that teach you the process of making a movie. Anyone wanna share their movie b/c my movie suck so far?
If you hate it, ignore it.

Fisk, did you use the advanced script house? Did you basically write your own movies?
I somewhat doubt you did, or else you wouldn't have used the word 'repetetive'.
Anyway, great game, but another overhyped game from Molenyeux.

Personally, I wasn't at all interested in the movie-making thing, and besides it's almost like it isn't even part of the actual game. Making long complicated movies is much better suited to the Sandbox instead; doing that in a normal game makes movies that take way too long to shoot and don't do any better when released than short scripts created by your writers. The only advantage is that you can create a script 'instantly' instead of waiting several game-months for your writers to do it.
So, looking at the tycoon game as a separate entity, I'd have to agree that it gets boring and repetitive very quickly. Really wish Molyneux would make another game that at least comes close to the greatness of his early 90's stuff, instead of the mediocre ones for the last decade.

Protecting us from dilution. It does not take a great deal of skill to release a clone, but a working NOCD/DVD crack elevates the scene and keeps a handle on copy protection. Without crackers like DEViANCE, emulation is the only option and without knowledge of the protection schemes, even that is in jeporady.
Maxi-Images are for shit and a result of uncracked protection.

Hmmm...am I missing something here? The only way to make my own movies is by using the AMM? (advanced movie maker/scipt house). There isn't a menu option that will take me into some movie creation mode where I can make or pick actors on the spot, dress em, pick scenes, props all that stuff without actually entering the game?
Essentially I Have to go into sandbox mode and play the game to make a movie?? Kinda bummed about that. I was hoping for a stand-alone movie maker app much like the starmaker app.
i can has computar?!

exactly, and thats what lots of people are fuming about on the lionhead forums. You have to play the whole storymode to unlock the things in Sandbox mode too. There hasnt been 1 lionhead game that has matched its hype, i mean they have been good, but they just havent been great.

how do the photographers work? I have two hanging around the gate, but when I try to place them near the stars, I get a big red X on a camera and they don't seem to do anything.

That's fine. I don't mind playing a game to unlock stuff. The game itself was hit or miss, but I enjoyed it for the most part. Now that I have everything unlocked, I expected to have an option to just make movies. Have a pool of my created actors to choose from, and some CPU genned extras, and just start laying out scenes as I see fit. From what I can tell, I have to start a snadbox game, set all the checkmarks to on, get all my people trained, and then make MY movie. Not only that, but sandbox still puts me in competition with other studios, and I still have to build shit. Why isn't there a MovieMaker link in my Start Menu under StarMaker?? Fucking retarded. I'm assuming that because of the way the game is laid out, Lionhead just expects people to make movies for the story mode to be shared. Did they not expect us to simply want to make a movie without all the overhead??
To make matters worse (I can cope with the original issue, I'm not pleased, but I can deal) I'm in Sandbox mode. I want a pool or about 6 or so extras for MY movie, and 3 Actors. The 3 actors I've made myself and used people to import them. No biggie. Picked people in line as extras and rejected those I know won't fint in MY movie. Well my actors line is dried up completely. I still need a handfull of people, but nope. Thanks to some stupid in game limitation (that is bugged to all hell) I can only have so many actor types in my studio. What. The. Fuck. WHY ARE THERE LIMITS IN A SANDBOX MODE!?? I should have 5 or 6 actors in line ALL THE TIME. It's not like I'm trying to play The Game. I want to make MY movie. With MY ideas and MY creative touch. I can deal with pre-made scenes. But forcing shit like this down my throat is stupid.
Just so many things keep piling up it's stupid. Ok I'd like to do this...oh I can't do that...well ok no big deal, what about if I do this instead....hmm can't do that either...well I don't really want to but I guess I have to do this....WTF I can't even do that??
GOD! This is sooo frustrating. It's not even like I'm trying to tax that game or anything. I want a movie to start with two 'aliens' walking through a cooridor (no problem) ship mate (and extra) tells the captain (supporting actor 1) everything is ready and they're ready to make landfall. The scenes needed for this are there np. Next I wanted the scene to change to two people talking in a forest (two extras np, scene np), camera change to show the alien craft landing...NO...the scene I have to choose is the (generic and completely unmodifiable) craft hovering, while the camera pans to show people already on the ground. Fine, I'll make do. But then I want the two people chatting to hear the commotion, and go investigate. NO! There's no Surprise type scene or action in the rural forest set. Hell the set is predisposed to be for Horror so everything related to shock involves some stupid monster or whatever. Nobody is there to look up and point and go "WTF?". No scene for that. Fine! My landed crew decide to start exploring, stumble on the people chase and whatever (haven't got that far). How many more "WTF NOT?!?" moments am I going to have with this? Why is it worth my time to go through all this trouble when I can just load Poser?? Sure Poser requires alittle more brainpower and is probably even more time consuming, but at least I don't run into a brick wall every 2 seconds.
To make matters even worse, I can't Preview my current movie without saving it. I have to click each scene...wait for loading...watch it and quickly click the next scene to try and get any flow.
It can't possibly be like this. I must be doing stuff wrong. I need 6 extras for this film, and that completely chews up my actor line (for those that haven't noticed, the actors line is the only one with randomly generated people, the other lines have all identical people). I can tell you right now, I'm very very happy I hesitated to buy this. I was so gung ho early on, and greatly enjoyed it for awhile there. But getting shafted like this is rough.
