Well Unity 5 seems to be *much* improved and it looks damned good too. Unity 4 though... meh. It's great for 2D games and whatnot (Ori and the Blind Forest? <3 <3 <3) but Unity 4 sucks for heavy 3D titles Sad

With Unity, I'm on an "I believe it, when I see it" stance.

I will give it a chance, but ... not holding out any hope.

Ironic then, that the best game I have played these past few years (PoE) was on that shit of an engine called Unity 4.

Nope, missed that game. Is it worth a try? (as in, is the game itself good?)

Ori is hard as hell. On the technical side I have slowdowns and occasional stuttering in it (i7 and GTX 970 Rolling Eyes )

It was only really tough during the escape sequences, due to the pixel-perfect jumps and the fact that you didn't know where you were going.. other than that, I actually found it to be one of the easier "floor is lava, walls are spikes" type of punishing games. As for performance, I didn't ever encounter a single drop from 60 from start to finish on an i5 and 780. It was utterly flawless. Same with the game itself, just a truly flawless experience.

Great news! Installing it now to test the performance Razz

PS Well.. I dunno how about u.. but here it still runs like ass Wink At least in certain areas like the one where u get a third member of ur group. I reckon +5 fps at best

I don't remember what GPU load used to be but now it's very high.I had to reduce OCing a bit coz my display driver crashed

Final district of the game has been added and they're ramping up the visuals as well.

I only tried it for a short while but for me, it went from a ghastly 20s/30s to 45-55ish and looked amazing too. It's not perfect, not yet, but it is better. If I turn off SSAOSecondPass and AntiAliasing, it hits 60 and still has relatively low GPU usage too.. plenty to spare if/when they optimise further, though it does drop back down to 40s/50s the further I go.

~edit~

Actually, further testing shows that option changes don't really do much of anything. Performance is still 45-55 seemingly on a whim, I even enabled high res SSRR (ray-traced reflections) and anti-aliasing, same 45-55fps.

So do they have a release-date for this game yet? I'm kinda pooped now that I didn't back it when I had the chance but if it's any good I'll still purchase it. Very Happy

0.7.2 supposedly brings even more performance improvements;

http://steamcommunity.com/games/268870/announcements/detail/175986813617345048

The numbers don't look exactly mindblowing on the developer's example, but that's from a Radeon 7770 Very Happy Some of the other users have confirmed decent performance gains.

Performance has improved quite a lot in 0.7.4, everything maxed out at 1080p and it's full 60 all the way through the tutorial and 35-60 once you enter the city proper. Not perfect yet, especially in heavy civilian areas, but it's definitely improving.

Doubt it. The physical copy tiers in the kickstarter listed physical copies as a limited edition.
