Pax has an OC on his CPU. His 2600K is always at 4.5GHz, he has the other thread where he was talking about his water cooled system  With 4.5GHz his 2600K is less than 4% faster in cinebench than my CPU at 3.5GHz

but he benched @ stock clock. and yes pumpy cause cinebench can use the ht cores. if a application can only use 4 cores his 4,5ghz will crush our xeons

Cinebench is hardly relevant in comparison to real apps, much less to games. What you see is roughly 20-30% IPC improvement from SB to HW, negated by his OC, so you have that 5% difference. He should easily be able go to 4.8ghz on WC, if he doesnt have an extremely bad batch. My 3570k runs 4.5 on Air (thermalright Macho).

Do you set the vcore yourself or is it on auto. It took me a while to find stable volts for 4.5. I'm a little over 1.3v . Playing around with LLC etc. its a real challenge.
Of course you dont really need it. Its about the discussion whether it is worth upgrading a 2600k that runs 4.8ghz.

I'd advise to not go at 4.8 with auto vCore since auto-mode often gives more volts than it really needs to be stable. But I'm a tinkerer and I like to min/max vCore/Ghz myself.
