Yup exactly. I don't know about that third enemy, never felt those were hard, but maybe then I only encountered weaker variations of them. The first ones he mentioned are bastards, too, draining just so much health with each attack.

these enemies are a joke compared to some in the chalice dungeons,
wait till you encounter the helldogs and superfast berserker zombies and you ll wish you were surrounded by an army of the ones named above.
I hate those Cainhurst flea monsters (bloodsucking beasts) the most in the game.
Next to those frenzy brain heads (brain trusts) and basically anything that does frenzy damage (because you can't block or mitigate it).
Chikage hunter came in first but stacking blood resistance really works wonders here, making the fight actually fun.
Brain suckers never gave me a problem, mostly because almost all of their encounters have them starting with their back turned towards you

Wait wait wait, you can break out of holds ?!?
quote:
"Fun fact! I recently stumbled across a "7 things you didn't know about Bloodborne" video, turns out I knew 6 of the things, BUT, something that was completely new to me is that you can BREAK OUT OF GRABS!
Once grabbed, you must ALTERNATELY mash L2 and R2, and because this is a From game, you gotta mash pretty hard (like potentially controller-damaging hard) and (brainsuckers for example) instead of losing 80% health and being knocked down, you'll lose about 50% and kick them off you, leaving space to run or counterattack!"

Superfast berserker zombies in the chalice dungeons? Yes they get my vote too if they're the ones I think you mean. I tried Googling them for some time yesterday but had no luck.
the ones who stand still before they see you, then let out a maniacal laugh and sprint towards you like the fucking flash and slash you into pieces.
but even these are bearable, the really annoying bastards are the devil dogs that come in pairs in depth 5.

Yes those. Worst enemy in my opinion. Found another description of them.
"Super-fast, sickle wielding, long haired female nutters in the Chalice Dungeons"
As a fan of every previous souls games I must say that item and build variety in this one it really pathetic. Item progression wasnt really a strong point in any souls game before but this time it just sucks.
Its a great, atmospheric game but it feels like just a teaser before proper, long, exhausting, difficult dark souls 3 (or hopefully bloodborne 2). Dont know if it is my experience with souls games but this one felt really easy in comparison to the previous ones.
I beat 3/4 of the game just holding axe R2 power attack, later on I switched to the ludwigs sword just because I was already bored with axe.

New game plusxxxx is where it's at.
You can't judge a souls game or any other in the same genre based on "normal".
Dark souls 2 on new game+++ is much harder compared to dark souls, but dark souls is harder on regular new mode. See what i'm saying?

I agree with there being a lot less "choice" than in the previous games. However for me that is fine. Bloodborne also seems quite a lot shorter than say DS2. I just don't have time to put 100 hours into a game, as much I would love to (especially in a game like this). I spent around 80 hours in DS2 and haven't even finished my first playthrough (but nearly finished).
Then I spent around 30 hours on BB and I believe I am 85% through (not counting chalice dungeons). For me that is fine. With DS2 I always had the feeling I was missing out on stuff because I could not give it the time it needed to truly appreciate. With BB I have at least the feeling that I am able to see or try out most of the stuff.

well it is the prettiest and most atmospheric souls game with the most interesting story and fast paced combat.
imo: dark souls > bloodborne > demons souls > dark souls 2
difficulty-wise the story playthrough is approximately like the rest (except for demons souls, that one is comparatively easy nowadays), unless you also do the chalice dungeons on first playthrough, in that case its the toughest souls game.
the only real drawback being an intended design choice, which is the game's focus on an agility build without offering a wider variety of playstyles a là dark souls.
if you have been always playing agility builds, you will feel at home, but if you were used to playing a slow strength build with a massive greatshield, you will need to readjust.
this is the reason why dark souls is still my fav.
Hmm, sounds pretty cool. Looking at the videos and design/atmosphere of the world I kinda expected that agility preference and story is the one thing that always felt kinda luckluster in Souls - any improvement in this regard will be very much welcome
