Yesterday pax oc'ed his 2600k (stock 3.4GHz) to 4.5GHz. He achieved 760cb in cinebench. I am on a stock xeon 1231v3 (3.4GHz) with no K, so no overclocking and I had 736-745cb in cinebench. And my CPU uses much less power than his 2600k.

So I can see that a better CPU will greatly increase the performance for interinactive here. Now if the games are shitty ports, yeah then he won't benefit, but I dont see this happening with the games inter likes to play.

BLCK to 150

There's your problem, no? Don't OC the BCLCK. Keep it at 100Mhz and instead just push via the multiplier.

Do you have a secondary hd where you could do a fresh install just to be safe?

Have you tried resetting BIOS/UEFI back to defaults and starting over? Maybe you missed a setting and it's hiccuping?

Hopefully Paul can help you out, because even if you've dropped everything back to default and you still can't boot stable to Windows, something has definitely gone wrong somewhere. At first I thought it might have been pushing BCLK to 150 causing trouble but it seems BCLK does support various stages above 100 without impacting stability or negatively affecting proc.

Shit hasn't changed on Haswell-E though. You still use the MP to bump clockspeed first and foremost. There is more possible with the BCLK, but it's still highly sensitive (which is why there are DDR4-strapped settings too at 125 and 167 I believe - 150 isn't one of them). BCLK is still only useful if you're going for some kind of record, for general overclocking it's just like SB/IB for the most part.

Run intel XTU and see if there is any throttling going on, that is very good stability test for Haswell CPU´s.

Really, I'm not sure Games are comparable to Apps like Cinebench who solely rely on CPU performance and show every % of IPC improvement.

And even the handful of games that are bottlenecked by CPU rather than GPU or use more than 4-8 threads efficiently will show improvements only once the GPU is already at its limit which is when the game will run good enough anyway. The term "greatly" is an overstatement imo.

Really, its not that I want to belittle interinactives investement. Its a nice upgrade and certainly the best one he could have made. Its a really nice enthousiast machine with lots of power. But why is it wrong to be a little realistic here?

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Is it still stable? I haven't seen anyone say to update the bios if there is an update? unless I missed it.
