i honestly couldnt pick which game is better between 1 and 2. theres great stuff in both of them, but its undeniable that mp2 was so incredibly slickly made... i think i liked the CONCEPT behind the first story better, but the second story, and the characters were written BETTER... oh.. and that ending.. i still think that mp2's ending is one of the best ive ever seen in a game...
nah, to me id never take a side in a mp1 vs 2 debate .. they're both pretty equally fantastic, and rank among the best games ever made.
mp3 on the other hand, is a fucking turd. a very pretty turd, with great combat, but everything else was rubbish and i wish rockstar had never crapped it out of its turdhole.

I adored Max Payne 1 and 2 almost equally (I mean we're talking about masterpieces of the genre) but for me, the first one had a certain kind of atmosphere that the second one didn't manage to replicate. It was depressing and heavy-laden, yet filled by dark deadpan-ish humour and over the top-ness as if it never wanted to take itself too seriously despite being grim. I loved that..I really did xD
The face was the icing on the cake, every time someone mentions Max Payne, my brain instantly visualizes the iconic Lakeface and links the franchise to it, no questions allowed, you can't explain that.
Not to mention!

Gameplay-wise on the other hand, that's another story, since Max 2 was more polished and worked better, with the proper physics and all. And MP3 enhanced that immensely, with its 100% physical shooting, still unrivaled.
But there will be only one Payne in my heart

Mona! The one thing i didn't like in MP1 was the complete invincibility during non-bullettime rolls.
Once found that out I never used BT again.

i vastly prefered mp1 to both 1 and 2.
1 had amazingly fun gameplay for its time and alot of wacky noir-style dialogue.
2 was too short.
3 was too bald.

MP1's game design today is bad, the enemies spawn behind you every so often for cheap deaths. It's like Crysis 2  This doesn't happen in its sequels.
Other aspects such as writing etc it's debatable which is the best.

I really enjoyed MP3.
But there is a small gameplay mechanic from MP2 that didn't make into MP3: Increase slowdown for each kill. For me that was a game changer. it made you rush enemies instead of trying to pick one by one. it made the fire fights in MP2 look like something out of a John Woo movie.

I installed this today. Even with the annoying cutscenes, the gameplay is soo
