However, we (gamers) have the huge power to decide with our virtual wallets, that's crucial. Personally I'll be waiting for the Gabensales, ~Fall 2017, The Witcher 3 Goty Enhanced Edition of Rivia 3.0 to make the move, since I only like to buy stuff when it's complete. Will ISOdemo everything it in the meantime of course as the yarr tradition dictates.

They will definitely get the money one day Very Happy. Just not now, and without following the conventional way that the silly, traditional marketing machine is trying to enforce..because fuck the system! xD
You dupek, you didn't get it from STALKER gog a week back, for 11€?! Sad

Haha no I had no idea that such a deal even existed.. but anyway. Gabensales 2017, Complete Kurwa Edition. Very Happy Whirling cane

I understand those critical of CDPR actions and what media has been released for review, they are also likely to be the first to rave how great the game is if it delivers.

I just don't get people that instantly think it's good because "I enjoyed previous game lol wut ", it's why we get reboots, sequels and i'd argue derp down of games.

19 may 2015 is the WITCHER 3 RELEASE DATE
THREE MONTHS LATER
OCTOBER 2015 A 20h LONG DLC
then three months after this
another 20h long DLC

i have seen the same greed indicator in every UBISOFT/CAPCOM game

I dunno what fucked up calendar you're using but October is 5 months after May, not 3 and "Q1" does not mean januari either but could be March as well so that's another potential 5 months (and in these things, it's 95% of the time the latter part of Q1). If they need this long for DLC, it will most likely be quite expansive so I won't complain.

Games get sequels and reboots for the same reason that movies do. The people bankrolling it with 10s or 100s of millions of dollars are risk-averse. They only want to fund those things that their marketing department tells them will provide maximum return on investment. It's why everyone talks about a "franchise" instead of one-offs, why you get annual sequels, why you get a dozen clones of a successful formula (see: FPS), why certain genres can only exist as indie and/or Kickstarter projects (see: 2D isometric RPGs) and why developers get shut down as soon as there is any taint of under-performance/failure (see: Maxis, et. al).

I thought good games got sequels because they are good and people like it, so they want more of it.

Considering all the talk about "staying true to roots", "staying loyal to fans" and all that other crap, especially when a dev that started a century ago on PC goes to conoles for example, the sentiment in this thread is a joke.

"Speedrun" in 25 hours. . . Laughing

Did he just play the main story, but instead of clicking away every cutscene like you would in a speedrun, he still watched every cutscene?

// seems they clicked away every dialogue

Still TOO many hours. I guess most of the game consist of fights then

We, we for sure know know that it won't be downgraded, all DLCs will be free, no platform parity and CDPR "cares" for community.

Games get sequels if they make money. Whether they were "good" or not isn't really relevant, outside of production deals based on Metacritic scores and the like. We live in an age where 3+ million unit sales within the first month of release is seen as under-performing. It could be the very best game ever made, but that means jack shit to the people putting up the funding if it doesn't meet some pre-determined sales figure.

There's something as being 'too long'.
Length by itself isn't a feature. Unless they have an extremely good storyline, I can't see it being an advantage really. There will come a moment when you just want to finish the game, and it will start to drag. I still hope they've incorporated a lot of the novels in the game/story, as the source material actually could make an interesting 25-50 hour long experience (I think, but it would also be a different game entirely)

An interesting video on the subject of game length:

Nah it's not the same, but it is heavily inspired by the Rockstar narrated gameplays they did for GTA V and Red Dead Redemption.

And well sweet baby jesus that looks awesome, especially how much it is filled with content.
