One thing is for sure, one thing I've never had any doubt about, and that's the gameplay is going to be awesome. TW1 was awesome, TW2 was awesome, I have no reason to think TW3 will be less awesome.

Announcing it after the game's launch would have been the smarter thing to do either way, even if the only reason for doing so was that there would be less vitriol. But okay.

Did you know their animators, designers, writers had months to start doing new shit after the original content got locked? It's a standard practice for software\game developers coz generally these guys have nothing to do in the latest stages of development.

Even if the first expansion was finished in,say, march, there would be no time to properly test it anyway.

I mean, I get all the frustration about them announcing expansion pass before the game is actually released, it does raise questions and rightfully so, but this?. Please...Of course the first expansion development has been underway for quite some time.(see above)

I mean, I get all the frustration about them announcing expansion pass before the game is actually released, it does raise questions and rightfully so, but this?. Please...

every one knows that , every firm does that ... but only the game industry is so retarded , so naive to be blunt about it ... Its like dunno a perfect example would be Books ... an author would say this story will be stretched to 30 books , naming all of those ... and then announcing you can get those before others IF YOU BUY A SEASONS PASS Laughing

kinda wrong example more suited would be the TV industry that sales TV series , Hannibal is a great example of it ... BUY IT NOW and get the WHOLE SERIES ... or pay more to get the UNCENSORED SEXUAL GORE ACTS named Producers Cut on BlueRay...

this industry just became to retrated for itself , i liked it when you got the game and then ... some DLC ... a fine example is GOTHIC 2.... and then GOTHIC 2 GOLD ....and then EXPANSION .... then 2013 way of ... Well derpy gamers you see this game will be Gothic 2 , down the line we will make a HD version with new models you get it when you BUY the seasons pass for GOTHIC 2 GOLD and for a 30$ extra you also get a new RAVEN story a 20h DLC ....

Why not? Why would someone who has paid $60 for the game, $80 for the game, or $200 for the CE of the game not feel ripped off when these 'expansions' are coming within months after the games release? They explain how much content there is and how big they are, and we're supposed to do what? Believe that they made them within a few months?

200 hours of gameplay at retail price, and you want more, thats nice.
Quote:

And you know what's going to make it worse? If the game releases and it's a buggy mess that runs like shit, because all the time, effort and money that has gone into these 'expansions' (that they've already announced) could have been spent on making the main game better. Obsidian announced a new game before theirs even came out, now look at the state of it now that it is out. How much resentment do you think their fans feel over that?

So your talking hypothetical what if´s?

I don't get it too, wouldn't it be easier for them just to shut up about the expansions, release the game, having people fapping all over and then, one month after the release show the expansions at E3 for the first time, boom!

Instead no, they announce it now, so when the game comes out with the inevitable bugs and glitches people will be "guess working on the expansion was the priority instead of just getting these, eh?" even though they can easily do both.
It's just the latest on a series of small (IMOOOO) fuck-ups for them.

This also doesn't make sense in our case. Whether you buy expansion pass now, later or buy expansions separately won't affect what you get in the end.

I'm talking here only about w3 expansion pass mind you.

that's the whole fucking point ... of it

guess now they will do some GOG retarded bullshit about , how they are such a good company that you can see thought them , and how they are the good guys ... i just lost faith in them ... when they did Witcher 1 they said in one interview they will not do the "shit" like Ubisoft does or EA ... after few months Witcher 1 had 4 versions , each was different price tagged , hypocrisy to the max... witcher 2 .... same thing ... but here CDP went beyond good taste , a PC game went full derp and did then same shit like each Console company does ... season pass for DLC content ... its like a Pre-order for DLC , if enough people will buy it then you will get your DLC ... if none will buy it ... then they will come out and say something like "IT YOUR FAULT THIS GAME DID NOT GOT THE EXPANSION PACK"

as of now they give you things before others if you preorder ... and even more things if you get the seasons pass

and that second example perfeclty fitted WItcher 1 and Witcher 2 ... and those Uncensored versions that costed more .... dont know how they will do it on W3 ... but seeing that after Mass Effect SEXBOX scandal ... they will do the same shit

The problem is pure semantics and timing... "Expansion Pass" is so tainted (rightfully so) that the mere usage of it is like pissing in a pool. And the fact that you can buy that Expansion Pass for content that releases in late-2015 and 2016 before the game is even released leaves a bad taste.

If they had announced the same expansions a month after release and offered to preorder them, nobody wouldve made a fuss.

yeah thats what i am saying from the strat timing and words Smile
I just dont see that as a greed but more as a honesty about their plans.
Because i would rather have info about future content from get-go, than months of silence and shady hints ending with sudden release of "awesome new" story DLC without further infor which is in the end pretty worthless

I got 200hrs out of Mount & Blade too, for $5.

681 hours out of Skyrim, for $60.

Are you saying that the price or amount of expansions should be relative to the amount of hours you get? You argue like a child. That's not an insult, you really do.

nLight wrote:

A hypothetical what if based on their previous 2 game launches, patches needed, no expansions announced before those game released, and I then gave a real world example of something similar that actually did happen within recent weeks and how gamers felt about it.

What was yours based on again?

Skyrim was worth the price
M&B was worth the price
W3 will be worth the price (im being optimistic instead of bitter and pessimistic)
and the expansions may or may not be worth 25£

and comparing Witcher 1 to 3, you have to expect CDPR to be the same company with the same lack of resources as back then.

This is going nowhere btw, goodnight

This whole situation that CD themselves created certainly is naive. I'm not even mad, because it was in the air, but it kinda leaves a sour taste in my mouth to see that nothing is "sacred" anymore, so to speak. Razz

However, we (gamers) have the huge power to decide with our virtual wallets, that's crucial. Personally I'll be waiting for the Gabensales, ~Fall 2017, The Witcher 3 Goty Enhanced Edition of Rivia 3.0 to make the move, since I only like to buy stuff when it's complete. Will ISOdemo everything it in the meantime of course as the yarr tradition dictates.

They will definitely get the money one day Very Happy. Just not now, and without following the conventional way that the silly, traditional marketing machine is trying to enforce..because fuck the system! xD
