Mate, I was just asking a question.
I think there's more to this, than meets the eye. Let's not take things at face value.
As far as I know content is locked down since half a year, perhaps more. They have a lot of people on staff, what should they do for their salary? Sure, some of them got moved to the Cyberpunk team, but the rest continued to create content.
I generally have no problem for paying for the expansion, if it's like expansions of old. I will play the game itself, and if it is good, I will buy the expansion. Not before.
Having general rules, about how we think about developers is a good thing, I have them, too, and we think in similar ways, when it comes to that. However, I do take exceptions due to cirumstances.
I am willing to give CDPR the benefit of the doubt. |
Oh, shit, I forgot about Cyberpunk. Should have cancelled that shit so they'd have more resources for Witcher 3 and then it maybe wouldn't have been delayed and/or downgraded

Comes with the one major downside of the game, I guess: open world.
Nobody has been able to pull off focused open world games of this magnitude, perhaps it is simply impossible. You have to compromise so much to achieve open world. And what for?
If you want exploration (the basic need, that is satisfied with an open world) can be satisfied in more elegant ways. Gothic games were the perfect balance.
Now, add in a robust crafting system, that allows you to craft the best of weapons, and boom, you suddenly have little reason to explore, so your open world is useless from game mechanics point of view, then the story would have to fuel the exploration. Of course, no game really managed to do that yet.

The way it works like is this: they lock content on the game, and start the polishing process. They locked down the content a long time ago, far too long even. They tested, and probably realized the game was full of bugs and unoptimized.
They made the perfectly sound decision of polishing some more, so the core experience will be solid. They didn't risk adding more content, because that would introduce more problems.
This is the safe and normal way of thinking in any software, doubly so for big budget games.
So in the meanwhile, the content creators (who had little work during these many months) started creating assets, voice overs, etc.
Remember, this is not a small studio with 20 versatile people anymore.

Someone seriously has to explain to me what exactly is with this game that generates so much hate in this forum.
I was browsing the GTA5 thread and there's pages of ecstatic drooling over the fact that it's in preload, that it's finally (lol, almost 2 years after release ) coming out, hyped as all hell.
Now read this thread, and just IMAGINE if TW3 had been released on ps360 first, then released on ps4bone, then delayed for PC multiple times, supercharged with drm, online bullshit, pre-order bonuses, special editions and tons of PR shit. This thread would have exploded, someone would probably have nuked Poland by now.
Why is this game in particular generating so much spite? I'm not trolling, I honestly don't get it.

I think some people feel betrayed, there is a perception that CD Projekt has become a console-first company after PC gamers made them who they are. Reminds me of how people felt about Remedy (although in that case it was true).

IF the game turns out to be great (from all perspectives: gameplay, story, performance etc), I don't see why I would not pay 15-20 Euros (how much this pass is, btw?) for 30+ hours of gameplay.
Provided I already spent 100+ hours in the main game.

They have, but that happened years ago. Like I said earlier, it was already apparent when they started unveiling TW2. TW3 just made it more blatantly clear.
But that's one thing, the knee-jerk reaction to the DLC announcement is another. I would understand if they had announced day 1 DLC, but they announced one coming out in 6 months, and another next year. Being outraged at that I find somewhat odd.

a game that WAS MADE EXCLUSIVE FOR PC ... now went MULTI-PLATFORM CONSOLE RETARDNESS ... and did we mentioned the graphical downgrade to not make this game look better on PC ... they even disabled and removed features from PC to make the game look the same as the console version .... there are Screen shots before and after ... and now this retardness about announcing DLC BEFORE THE GAME ... DLC that was announced as free now is a paid DLC ... etc..

Well, GTA was originally a PC exclusive as well, why does it get a free pass?
TES was originally PC only, and now it's a ps360-oriented ultra-consolized title, but if you read the Skyrim topic you don't see anywhere near this level of spite.
For fuck sake, Dragon Age was a PC exclusive and DA:I, a game that actually IS shit, gets less flak than TW3, which isn't even out yet.
What I mean is: I've been on this forum for years and I know people like to be elitist and bitch and moan about everything that has controller support, but even for the hump the amount of hate seems over the top.
I mean, EVERY SINGLE GAME these days has preorder bonuses, dlcs (even announced before release), season passes, and here it's almost taken as read, apart from the usual jokes (pre-hurrrdurrr, etc. etc.), now it turns out they plan an expansion for TW3 and immediately a mob with pitchforks and torches rises up. Why this double standard??

people here are pissed that After Alien Colonial Marines all their titles are now downgraded and Look like shit on PC ... heck i have a power PC that could run anything in 4K before 4K was IN ... but now i ask myself why did i got it >.> when all those PC games look the same as the console version but by some magic ways need 10x more horsepower to run ...  they really optimized those ports |

I have to ask tho, did all of you stop playing videogames around the ps2 era and came back to gaming in the last year or so? I seriously don't want to sound antagonistic, but you talk about that like it's "news"... I don't get it.
EVERY "big" game nowadays is multiplatform. In fact, every major game in the LAST generation was. TW2 was the exception, not the rule (and even it got a console release, even if a couple of years after the PC version).
Is this the crux of the matter? That TW2 was somehow the "last bastion" of PC gaming, and now there are no more "big AAA franchises" that are PC exclusives??

Seriously, as someone who comes from the era when games came on CDs I remember many expansions, and they were never free. They weren't a couple of hours long either, but a consistent chunk of content, which I'm ASSUMING this one will be as well. I doubt it will be on the same level as the free DLC they're giving out on release.

Did I say I deserve the expansion for free? Several of us have, consistently, pointed out our grievances with what's going on only to have people like YOU shoot us down, insult us with your petty little insults, and then whine about the thread. Every single negative aspect we have raised, you've insulted us over. Hfric had the right idea and it sure as hell would have gone a long way to proving they're not a greedy fucking company that has been corrupted and twisted by shits like Microsoft; announce the "season expansion pass, top kek" a few months AFTER the game is out. Not a month BEFORE. Because by doing that they just look greedy and it makes people like me (and make no mistake, I am NOT alone on this) think they're ripping out finished (if perhaps not "polished"  ) content so they can profit further from it. Because that's what their "partners" do, you know? Their "partners", like Microsoft, that a beloved and famed PC development house now caters to?
We've seen console favouritism. You shoot it down.
We've seen *massive* downgraded visuals. You shoot it down.
We've seen ludicrous system requirements that the developers claim are targeting a ludicrous framerate. You shoot it down.
We've seen exclusive content favouring another platform. You shoot it down.
We've seen PRE-RELEASE announcements and store pages for SEASON PASSES. You shoot it down.
I'm sorry, am I missing something? Aside from your "assumptions"? Certainly not missing those, you're making a lot of them whilst simultaneously shooting down anyone for having a dissenting opinion. So what are allowed to do? Cheer and applaud every decision we don't like just because you do like it?
