I'm on a quarter system, which is irregular for American colleges. My quarter goes for 10 weeks, and I have 3 quarters in a typical academic year (2 summer quarters are also possible, for a grand total of 5 quarters).
I like it more, because you get everything over with faster, and you have more flexibility with how many classes you take and how fast you graduate. You can finish any major in 3 years if you put your mind to it.
