Installed the patches and now every line of dialogue that has audio is cut off at the beginning, basically characters start talking mid sentence... not a big deal since I can always read the text, but annoying.

I had the same problem in the release version of the game in the early stages. Seems like it was either not fixed or reintroduced.

I had that problem with voiceovers not correctly playing since the release. Sometimes sentences of the same character are voiced, while the suddenly the following are not anymore

Bob, that may not be a bug since the game is not completely voiced.

I had that happen to me yesterday for the first time as well.
Calisca's "out of dialogue box" lines where cut-off at the beginning.

Didn't happen to me on the unpatched version.

Yes, you get minor boosts depending on which companion you sacrifice, it's in the Prima guide. I had no Cruel ranks, so couldn't use it (really like the dispositions, Honest gor example will let you omit skillchecks in certain conversations)

@Bob Barnsen

Hmmm that's hardly enough to justify sacrificing one of your companions... Very Happy

I think Obsidian should address this "issue" lol

It gets progressively harder as you go, so just keep going until you start getting raped. You should be able to do the first 5 levels pretty early on.

Wasn't it supposed to be a procedurally generated endless dungeon same as The Infinite Dungeon in ADOM? That's unless I'm confusing it with some other game..

The number of levels were stretch goals during the Kickstarter. It got to 15 levels. It's kind of a cheat though, as some levels are tiny or otherwise low on content and are clearly just to bulk out the number. It's called the Endless Paths, but I'm not sure it was ever intended to be literally endless. You can't really have procedural pre-rendered 2D backdrops. Probably more a marketing gimmick. It was endless for as long as people were willing to continue throwing money at it.

Check the room with the Drake after the sacrificial pit again. Should be the north wall.

Started making a character editor, currently got it editing the attributes and skills of main character correctly.

Talents, abilities and inventory might take me some time.

You can rebind that function under controls

I mapped it to "Q" and it still works fine (AWSD for camera movement)

- Speaking of expansions, can you give us any details on what might be coming in the future?

- Sure. So, with the Kickstarter we announced that we were going to do an expansion, and so how we're approaching that is to actually do the expansion in two parts, and have one part out sooner than the other part. The idea being that people are really enjoying Pillars right now and they're going to get finished their first or second playthrough within in the next two weeks, a month, something like that. And so, we definitely want there to be content for them to enjoy and I think we're going to be talking about that pretty soon. I don't think we've released anything specifically, but it really ends up being this concept of this story that expands parts of what you would see in those sort of old school expansions we made for Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate. So not just these three, four hour downloadable DLCs, but definitely big chunks of a story and a new hub to go to and things like that.
So that's kind of how we're really approaching it, like we've done with Eternity throughout is this idea of, these games kind of went away but not for a reason they should have. The industry shifted to so much console with this idea that PC wasn't so much of a gaming platform, which I know no one thinks that anymore. So, back then when you got an expansion you got this meaty thing with hours and hours of gameplay. And that's really what we're trying to do. So, while we're splitting it in two, it is like one continual story that people get to play.

So Much Win

Not sure if I like the idea of splitting it in two, but we'll see how it works out.

My OCD wants me to stop playing PoE until both parts of the expansion are available. Sad

Maybe I'll just replay BGEE/BG2EE.... Crying or Very sad

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Hrm. I dunno about that. Either you are going to end up with more or less two distinct adventures, or there is going to be a pretty big cliff hanger. I'd prefer to wait 6 months or so and get it all in one hit, personally.

So a save editor I take it? I didn't really want to mess with the console options in IE mod, but some of the companions could do with some adjustment. In hindsight I also didn't go the best route with my character, but the current game is almost finished now, so probably not worth bothering changing. Lesson learned for next time.

Yeah it'll be a save editor, stats and skills are already done and pretty straightforward (aside from max health and stamina which just has a base value). Talents and abilities are going to be very trial and error.

It makes sense from a business standpoint to release DLC asap to ride on the current hype wave (91% metacritic, SJW's game of choice) to maximize sales.

From a player's standpoint - I'll happily wait and grab the whole pack once it's out + patched.

I say to Obsidian:

Break up the expansion, if that what it takes to maximize sales and thus bring more life to a sequal and potential money to this genre of games. You have my blessing.

But. Fix. The. Fuken. Bugs. First. K?

So you want Obsidian to do exactly what we condemn other developers and publishers for doing?

I guess people don't mind being major hypocrites these days.

Major publishers might have succeeded with manipulating people just as they did with Dlc's. Now people crave dlcs if they aren't present or presented later and condemn if they are.
