Wonder how it works on more exotic (non-human) characters, and how it works on females.
(Balls of steel and egg-scrambling?..)
EDIT: The X-ray shots also look a lot more damaging now with snapped spines and crushed internal organs, I guess it'll still be a more damaging attack than a pure fatality though.
(There were a couple of eye gauging X-ray effects in the previous game but I don't remember breaking any spines or removing internal organs though there wer plenty of shattered skulls and ribs.)
I'm really not digging this MK
it losts it charm...
I also have mixed feelings about this. Gore is fine but this time it seems to be a bit over the top and turning into tortue porn or such. Also missing some old characters (Noob, Cyrax, Sektor, Smoke, Jade etc..) is a small minus aswell. Sure they want to update same old character list but still I don't see a reason why there couldn't be almost every single character from the previous games as some of them dont need to be included in the story mode etc..
It's not about story mode, it's about balancing the MP/VS actually. The more characters there are, the more of a difficult balancing act it becomes. Also, they need to push them DLCs packs.
Also, the amount of detail that has gone into these character, doubling the roster would require a lot of work.
Just the introductions, {number of characters}x{number of characters}, so n² variations of the intro sequences alone. Then you have the fatalities, the xrays, the vulnerable body parts for opponent's xray and fatalities. I think it's easy to underestimate the amount of work needed for each character.
Sorry but this game looks ridiculous. X-Ray moves are stupid; you get moves that drive knives into your eyesockets, broken spines, necks and severe organ damage, and then you get up and carry on. It might look 'cool' but what a pointless gaming gimmick.
As I said before, it's just Zebedees pogoing around - I swear tat the game would be much better if there was a 'Boing!' sound everytime someone jumped.
Combat looks wooden, animations look forced, there is no fluidity at all. Even DOA, with it's pre-gen graphics, has a far superior feeling of combat.
I miss the original MK

I said it before, but I reckon the X-Ray moves should have been alternative finishers to Fatalities. The visible damage really does look so insane when you see your opponent get right up and continue fighting straight after
nostalgia glasses, mk was always a wooden and shallow fighting game that lived off the gore and cool characters, it never was a serious competitive fighter like sf and kof.
nothing wrong with that though, most people play fighting games very casually, try out the different characters, play a few online matches and thats it.

mmm ok you do have a point
I think there were slightly less of these ridiculous moves tho. You could possibly survive a Scorpion harpoon, but not one in the face through your eyes - thats kinda what I meant
