HOLY SHIT
I plugged in my new 850 Pro, and had to ghost my C: from my old 840 Pro
I just ran Samsung Data Migration
clicked next next next, waited 10min to clone 153GB, close -> restart
entered BIOS, switched 850 Pro as boot device
and then just booted right into my 850.. 
and all this done while running the windows in my 840, HOLY FUCKING SHIT
how is this possible? in the old days I had to boot from a 3-rd device, run Norton Ghost or some app, wait an eternity and then it kind of worked..

I don't reinstall Windows, I keep my OS-es for years with no problems or performance degradation
My last PC had the same 32bit Vista from 2008 to 2014, and if I boot it it will still run flawlessly

I don't usually uninstall software that I no longer use, so every once in a while I revert back to "clean OS image" or reinstall windows, because it's just so much faster than cleaning PC out of old software and its remnants. Besides that I agree, Windows nowadays tend to stay snappy and working perfectly even after long time.

One trick i've learned, if i want to keep my programs is go through the windows installer, but select "upgrade" and it will keep all your games etc. This only works of course if you can boot into the OS. And before doing it i remove any junk programs i dont want on the new installation.
