SWAT4 and 3 had tons of aspects lacking in modern shooters. What I loved about 4 (as it is fresh in mind) is the pacing. You go stealth, only to have something random happen and the game totally changes on the fly.
Also I remember achieving 100/100 score with only lethal weapons allowed by players was the best thing ever. You had the firepower, but you are only allowed to use it if forced by the actions of suspects. So that meant shouting at suspects giving them a chance to surrender, risking your own life during those vital seconds. If they raise their gun to fire you had to win that duel and take the suspect down.
Rainbow Six started it all, I feel. It has been abandoned and left to burn, sadly.
SWAT games are very cool though, they deserve a proper new game.
I liked how SWAT 4 plays but I hated the later levels. At first it goes with very believable and nice levels like the dinner, then the house of the serial scat porn fan, but after that it goes to some sci-fi road and everything goes to shit. Its like I am playing the last levels of Cockviction or Deus Ex: HR.

uh what?
the only sci fi'ish level is the Mt. Threshold Research Center. Maybe with some imagination the duplessis diamond exchange center too.
I agree that I really liked the normal missions more. Not the big often slightly confusing missions with large indoor spaces, long corridors with tons of doors etc.
For example just the call about the crazy veteran taking potshots at traffic from his attic in SWAT3. It was just a small building, and the suspect was 'very' often found where you expected him to be. But still the mission was something that could have happened.
Also the man who had a missing girl trapped in the creepy basement of his house in SWAT4 was a good mission. You feel like the good guys saving someone.
When the game strays too far into fiction, like with the research center, it loses something for me.
It doesn't look that bad I guess but we all know how its gonna end - dead in less than 6 months, no dedicated servers, COMPLETELY broken match making, LAG SHIT, SHIT and of course no modding tools of any kind.
I think you're onto something here, it looks so damn consolish
Instead of rewarding precision and tactical approach it glorifies the in yo face fuck yeah one. Levels are also very tiny and longevity may be an issue too since you have to run 'n gun them.
Wall-hack for teammates adds a nice touch of authenticity though:
Who said anything about putting it in the same league, I just said that seeing the SWAT outfits made me reinstall SWAT. I'm on the last mission now though.

Who talking about you? I am referring to @warriormax's video where the hurr durr that played for two hours was very happy with the game as a SWAT 4 player
I enjoyed Future Soldier in coop but it was too short and there wasn't skirmish which sucked. What I like, no what I simply LOVE about this game are the animations. The NAVY SEALS who did the mo cap did an amazing job, holy shit bro, I just creamed my pants when I saw that the way your character reloads the assault rifle changes with the mods you instal on it. For example when I attached a scope on my AK, my character started doing an under reload to prevent hitting the scope accidentally. The melee animations are gorgeous. And the running animation? Its no contest.
I didn't liked the survival game mode. Basically those retards @ Failsoft made the enemies go bulletsponges over time and on the later levels it takes you roughly one mag to take down a guy with tank top or just a shirt, no bulletproof vest or anything
Why can't talented game designers make Rainbow Six games? Why is it always stinky assholes who get the job? I can't understand why. Who is hiring these people to ruin every trace of Rainbow Six's gaming legacy?
What could possibly be the motivation?
If they wanted to make a new CS/spin-off they could have created a brand new title.
