I didn't want to do it, but couldn't resist...I played the first chapter. It was okay, imo. I wouldn't say great, nor particularly remarkable, but it set up the basis for some potentially interesting developments, that's for sure. It wasn't too short either, got around 3-4 hours from it.
The series got Telltale'd pretty badly, but there are still a few basic puzzles and exploration when it opens up. Dialogues are nice, even if not all the characters are likeable, and some silliness occurs from time to time.
The choices->consequences part seems to be implemented in the right way, but it's definitely too early to tell, and here's hoping it behaves better than Tellale's games.
I liked the atmosphere a lot, same for the music, the presentation on the other hand..not so much. Felt a bit cheap to be honest. The inconsistent graphics did not help, since they went from decent (main models, the city) to plain mediocre (secondary characters, lighting, LOD, textures, etc), especially if we consider that it's one of the most demanding games out there. Unity in a nutshell xD
There was one thing in particular though, that was so good that it became distracting...
Haha! I immediately thought about that...man those are some damn finely crafted buttocks for the designer who wants all the women to be like Berta Lovejoy
Well I'm still trying to be strong, I can't sit through a 2-3 hour "bite" and then play another 2-3 hour "bite" every six months while they burn through their funds. I have to wait for the full and final ... which will then likely become "Dreamfall Chapters - Season 2!" :\
How long for the next episode drop? I saw a Youtuber play it, seemed ok but -very- narrow and linear game. I guess these games are known for long and drawn out conversations, some were very boring to listen to.
Three to four hours if you explore the locations, it's not very long but still on par with other episodic adventure games and you might also want to replay the game to see what the other decision does for when the game prompts that you have to make a choice that will have a larger effect on the storyline.
(There's a couple of them but I think only one or two affect things majorly in the first episode.)
I am kinda strange about such games. You see, I always finish them just once because in my head I already created "my" lore for the game and I just deal with the decisions I've made. I only finished Mass Effect once, Wanking Dead also once, etc. I don't want to see the other outcomes because my mind may like one of them more and mess up the lore for me, making it "perfect" and I don't want that.
Yeah I know what you mean, first time through a game with branching decisions I generally play through it as I want to but then I'm very much a completionist too so I have to see the other outcomes although it varies depending on how good the actual game is.
(And it's length, playing through something like Dragon Age Inquisition which can both get a bit repetitive and can take upwards of a hundred hours means it's unlikely I'll ever do more than one or two full playthroughs.)
(Although in DA:I's case - and many other games too, pulling this off is probably quite difficult. - a lot of the outcomes are purely cosmetic or how to say with no real impact on the games story besides perhaps a NPC remark or some small journal entry changes and then nothing more.)
there going to 5 chapters am I right? I think I might wait until all be out
That's indeed the wisest thing to do.
I definitely regret having gone through the first chapter...because I barely remember it now, and I didn't even play it at release date (October).
I just hope they don't utilize an exponential algorithm for deadlines, or we'll play the last chapter in 2019
EDIT: Exe version information also shows they have upgraded from Unity Engine 4.5.5.xxxx to 4.6.3.xxxx which I think is the newest of the 4.x versions.
(Might help with optimizations and perhaps also visual quality though it's not Unity 5.)

So is the second part worth playing? Seems like nobody cares about this game at all. I played the first episode and thought the story was a confusing, boring mess, but the graphics in the city looked great. Loved the atmosphere there, reminded me of Blade Runner.

Did you play both the predecessors? I believe the story would make alot more sense then.
I started playing the first chapter and liked it very much but I hate episodic content so I'll be waiting for them to finish the whole game until I continue further.

I played through Dreamfall - The Longest Journey, but it was so long ago back in 2007, that I don't remember anything. Only certain scenes and images, but no recollection of the story whatsoever. So when I played the first episode, I had no idea what was going on...

I replayed through both games before Chapters just to be sure.
