Still play the MP portion of the game till this day, it is a lot of fun , i think a lot of ppl dismissed it as an afterthough feature, but it is its own game, very underrated.
Well you dont have to agree, im the biggest ME fan you proly will ever meet, i have finished all the games multiple times, although ME2 takes the crown every single time, so theres that.

that is some extreme fanboyism.
completed 1 and 2 once each, have yet to play the third. loved me2.
great 3PS sci-fi action game with lite rpg stuffs.
first one was good, but you spend half the game turning things to omnigel and gameplay was not that good.
hoping the third one is a decent shooter at least. have everything downloaded and will play soon probably.
I'm one of those weirdos who only really liked the first one. Despite the flaws, some occasional problems with level design and overall roughness, the game just felt great to me, with not too many constraints gameplay-wise, decent amount of customization, a formula that wasn't entirely based on cover shooting (yet) and coherent narrative.
The day that I started ME2 was a disappointing one, because I found a watered down vision of an already casual-ish franchise, the "wrong" direction so to speak, a more hollycorridor-like one. But it did have good writing, as well as the pacing and presentation, so in the end it worked fairly well.
ME3 on the other hand represented the obvious, unfortunate evolution of the franchise with all the RPG-ish aspects gone to the dogs in favor of the in-yo-face approach. The writing adapted to such style and became inconsistent as well (few satisfying moments, and many cringe-worthy ones, without even mentioning the epilogue), a real shame.
The sad thing is, the praised DAI (which I'm still desperately trying to finish), treated as the golden boy of Bioware's new era, feels just as shallow as ME3 did for me, perhaps even worse. My hopes for a decent ME4 are very close to zero now, but deep inside I still hope that the the green pear magic voodoo pirate who's been controlling the writers' and designers' minds at the Bioware HQ since 2010 finally dies of heart attack.
I disagree with the me2 haters, I think it was as flawed as the first one, just in different ways, yet did some things better... I still maintain that within the combination of the best ideas and contents of the first 2 ME's exist the perfect game... And as far as franchises go, me1 and 2 are both great... It's just the third game that let's the side down, both conceptually and in terms of continuity and choice development.

Sadly no, i played the whole 2010 mass effect ... loved it so much that i didn't notice other games anymore . 2011 and other years i am not even gaming much

(IMHO)
ME1 had the best ambience (including the music), ME2 had the best structure (everything felt coherent, characters were all well-developed), and ME3 had the best effects (graphics, major battles, enemies/combat, etc.). All three games had different problems with gameplay elements but you know my friends who watched me play thought they all looked awesome...but they are casual gamers, and they would never be able to manage ME1 while ME2/ME3 would suit them just fine. So on the whole I'd say ME2 is the best game for both crowds (with a hardcore/old-school gamer like myself preferring ME1, and filthy frat casuals preferring ME3).
The problem with ME2, for me, was that it did swing a bit too much away from the feel of ME1 but moreover that the background story was pretty terrible (IMHO)...I never felt connected to the Cerberus storyline. ME1 felt like the original Matrix movie while ME2 was, well, the Matrix sequel...but the side missions, most of the DLC, most of the combat, the characters, graphics, etc. were all excellent on the whole. So, yes, the feel of ME1 plus the polish of ME2 would be a perfect combination. In many ways I see ME3 as attempting that combination actually but in the end it kind of took on the bad elements of both as well as the good.
Oh man
Srsly. 1 and 2 are amazing games.
3 is a piece of turd. Only thing I liked is credits music

Finally started playing this to wrap up the trilogy.
It's a pretty decent sci-fi shooter. Loving the eye candy.
Bioware sure makes great shooters
Kidding aside, does anyone have a good narrative grasp of the game so they could suggest the most reasonable DLC playthrough order with main game missions in mind?
No spoilers please, mission names should be enough.
It's hard to give you a play order without spoiling stuff since it recommends certain DLCs after certain missions :\ Still, since you don't mind mission names;
Paraphrased from here here and tweaked with my own comments;
"From Ashes" - Do that as soon as you can/want, recommended by most people to do it after "Priority: Citadel" (the FIRST one, right after you leave Mars at the start) as you get a new squad member from this and the start of substantial plotline information.
"Omega" is best done right after "Priority: Rannoch", making the most narrative sense.
"Leviathan" is best done after "Priority: Thessia". This prevents Shepard and Liara from looking like idiots later, fits in with the plot better.
"Citadel DLC" is best done right after "Priority: Horizon", before Cronos Station in "Priority: Cerberus Headquarters". The intent seems to be one last shore leave for the Normandy while Hackett prepares for the assault on Cerberus. You get the "Shore Leave" mission chain and then the final crew "Party", before heading out to "Priority: Cerberus Headquarters"
This seems to fit in nicely with the rest of the game and in my own playthrough this was exactly how I did it. Personally, I would also recommend "MEHEM" as well, since it radically improves the piece of shit ending BioWere lumped on us, without making it too super lovey-dovey.. it's just "better" (IMOIMOIMOIMO) Also recommended is JohnP's "Extended Final Anderson Conversation" mod as, like in KoTOR/KoTOR2, this was shortened and mostly cut for the "final" game.
(I linked directly to the file download for MEHEM, since the mod synopsis details all the changes to the endgame/ending.. which, naturally, you don't want to know Anderson Conversation mod is safe to read)
Yeah, I knew it was going to be tough to do it without spoilering, so I figured the mission names was the best approach. that way I can simply not even know what its about and check before every priority mission if any DLC's should be played.
Also, nice to see even EA games have mods.
I think I will go with the anderson cut convo mod, and then when I see the official ending, i'll check out the MEHEM one as well.
I've just gotten past the citadel and i'm enjoying the game. It's been noticeably more cinematic than even the second game, with now almost no resemblance of an RPG left. But i don't mind that.
It works well as an action adventure with beatiful sci-fi visuals, as I never really considered ME series to be truly RPG anyways.
Aye, pretty much exactly that; ME3 works as a scifi action shooter with interactive conversations, and it's not a bad story either... to be honest, I think I prefer ME3 over ME2, soundtrack notwithstanding. There's more RPG elements (heh, "more" is hardly worth saying compared to Mass Streamline 2) and a grander scope overall... but fuck me, that ending... the "Catalyst" bullshit

Same thoughts, if the ending of ME3 was better it would have beaten ME2 in my eyes ... but dsergei has right too.
The only part I liked more (other than being able to holster your weapon ) was ME2's soundtrack <3 I really liked the whole trilogy but I still think ME1 takes it, with ME3 and then 2 just behind.
Never got what the big deal about ME2's soundtrack was. All I remember are a few rehashes from the OST from the original ME, not THAT's one hell of a soundtrack.

This for me, at first I rated ME2 above 3... but once I got over that horrible ending it changed. Still haven't done a replay of 3, so never experienced the new ending and the dlc.
If I didn't have such a backlog already, I'd reply ME3. The more I think about it, the more I remember the missions and the characters, the more I realise how much I enjoyed it once I got over my annoyance at the ending and the "no holster, sorry, consoles don't have the memory so PC can't have it either" bullshit

heh, this is why I waited this long.
When I installed the game I was surprised to see it is already almost 3 years old
There is no more content or patches coming out, and mods like the ones Sabin mentioned fixed the game even more.
Perfect time to play it in its best version.
As for the holster thing, from the start it looked weird that my arms are always sticking out like a viagra boner, even though I forgot ME 2 had holster
