'Should' be a big performance leap for them. I am going to be optimistic and expect something good and competitive.

Not only should but it must be, or else it will be AMD´s end in the desktop CPU business.

Can't see that happening.
Somebody will want that precious x86 license they have.
Can see another major player with their own foundry's (Samsung? ) Buying AMD.

If there was no AMD we would still be on 32-bit and 3 GB machines. People usually forget that Intel didn't want to invest into 64-bit architecture, because that tech was not needed. Wink

We will all lose if AMD goes.

Don't forget that AMD has most of the people back who were in charge during their peak with things like K8 Wink

If Zen does fail, I doubt they'll disappear though.

Still? Nah. I don't see how 64bit wouldn't inevitably become a reality.

True, but Intel would had milked it big time before transitioning, AMD forced them to transition faster.

Still doesnt change the fact that AMD fails hard on desktop CPU´s. Dont have any hate against them, i really want them to succeed so there would be serious competition against Intel (so they could not price their CPUs whatever they like).

Be fair, their 85xx series is years old, so it won't be a surprise to see some good performing chips.

Intel seem to be releasing a new CU every other month.
