In a rare situation, Crystal Dynamics is working closely with GK Films to develop the actioner. Gamemakers typically just license off the film rights to a title and hope for something good at the megaplex.
“They are working from this new take that we’ve given them,” Gallagher said of GK Films. “It’s a good partnership. We’re seeing the challenges through the same lens.”
Collaboration was key for Crystal Dynamics when agreeing to partner with filmmakers.
“It was important for both of us to have a cohesive version of the franchise,” Gallagher said. “We didn’t want to see a film version that was a continuation of the old ‘Tomb Raider’ films.”
GK Films has a history with character-driven films, having produced “The Departed,” “Rango” and “Hugo.” But at the end of the day, “we make the games, they make the film,” Gallagher said. |

They were horrible. Well one of them was. I'm not sure which of the two I saw, but it was garbage.

i found them to be quite fine popcorn action flicks. Nothing wrong with that. Never expected super deepness of a tomb raider movie to begin with lol.

Never understood the whole "Let's make a movie out of a videogame!1".
I understand it from the side of the corporations involved ofc ($_$), but I never understood why the fans of the games get so excited about it.
Especially when 11 out of 10 times it turns out being total crap

Not sure how I feel about it... yet. The only tomb raider movies I've seen were the Angelina ones, and I really didn'y enjoy them. If they do it right and the cast is good who knows...
I'll keep an eye out I guess.
