Played a bit, seems ok. Every item (so far) can be acquired by playing (except skins, naturally). Not sure about new classes, it requires something else.
Only problem is with team balancing. I don't know if it just happened to be or is it supposed to be that way, but when I played (for the first time) my team were all 1 lvl versus the enemy team 4-8 lvl. The next time wasn't so horrible, there were only 2 players with lvl 1 (myself included) and we both were in a same team against "more" experienced players.
Still kicked their asses, well, I at least I did
Classes are either bought with money or you get a coin thing every 5 levels to unlock a class. I'd just wait, getting to 10 is pretty quick going. I like the business model but I'd like to see more information on the drop system.. although I could probably do with doing more research on this !
So, what can you earn, what can you buy and what can you attain by levelling up? Here’s a handy table breaking it all down for you:
Most of these items will be self-explanatory for experienced competitive multiplayer gamers (if they’re not, feel free to drop me a PM via the forum). However, two are worth explaining in more detail:
Chest Keys: A chest is a locked container which you may randomly receive at the end of a match, along with the usual end-game rewards. It will contain a randomised reward that’s different to standard end-game loot, for example a rare weapon or primary ability, and will require a Key to unlock it.
you can get chests at the end of a match - so far haven't gotten one
30 minutes of gameplay from the cancelled Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun
Quote:
Gameplay is taken from a "vertical slice demo" of the game presumably made for internal use within Square Enix.
Square Enix acknowledged the cancelled project had existed at the time of the previous leak(2013), and also confirmed that it would not ever see the light of day.
"I can confirm that Dead Sun was a project which had been in development - but which was cancelled," then community manager George Kelion wrote at the time.
"I know it's disappointing to hear about these things out of context, and whilst some of the details released are accurate - some details are not. You know game projects can be cancelled for a variety of different reasons and I know it's very hard to tell from images and info alone, but in the end LOK: Dead Sun just wasn't the right game, at the right time... but you'll have to take me at my word on that, I'm afraid."
Only the game's multiplayer portion survived Square Enix's cull - it was expanded upon and recently released separately as the free-to-play spin-off Nosgoth.
It has been more than two and a half years since we partnered with the wonderfully mad men and women at Psyonix to embark upon a rather ambitious adventure. Our goal was to bring the world of Nosgoth to life in a new and challenging manner; a manner which allowed players to wage asymmetric warfare against each other as both human and vampire-kind.
A massive amount of work has gone into making Nosgoth a reality, and continually bringing new developments to the game. Our own teams, as well as the great guys at Psyonix, have dedicated a huge portion of themselves to making Nosgoth bigger and better over the years. Not only that, but dedicated community members provided a great deal of feedback that has been tremendously beneficial to the game. We are eternally grateful. Thank you one and all.
The above only makes today’s announcement that much more difficult.
It is with a heavy heart and an immense sense of sadness that we must announce the end of Nosgoth’s development. Servers will continue to run until 31st May 2016, during which time you will be able to play the game as normal. After that date, Nosgoth will be taken offline for the last time.
This was not an easy decision to come to. It has been a pleasure to build this game with your help, but ultimately its audience hasn’t grown enough to sustain ongoing operations.
On behalf of the entire Nosgoth team we want to thank you all for your feedback, support and dedication to the game throughout Nosgoth’s life.
I mean, it's sad to see this because the game had potential. I had a ton of fun when it was new actually, but I stopped playing as I got better to the game and understood that at a level where every player in the match was decent, the combat turned into bullshit. And they never fixed that. They barely updated the game all this time actually. So again, while it's sad, it doesn't surprise me at all.
