This Early Access thing is getting out of control imo. They suddenly throw a last update and they release ver 1.0 while they practically admit the game is unfinished? They're not offering DLC or expansions in the future. They're promising the release of unfinished content and features and improvements on the current content.
That said (and legally speaking) they should stick with Early Access and release the product when it is finished. An unfinished product should never reach retail status.

I completely agree, and that is also the reason why now I never buy anything unless is 100% functioning, without shady procedures and last minute tricks to make the game look like it's complete when is clearly not. I live in Scamland, where everyone tries to rip you off on daily basis, such amateurish attempts don't fool me so easily
Unfortunately if developers keep doing that, it means that it's a winning choice and there are always people who blindly throw money at the screen without informing themselves/or just trusting everyone out there.
Just imagine if you're at work, and give your boss a half-assed project, asking him to pay you anyway with the promise that you'll finish it one day, maybe. 99 times out of 100 you receive a straight fuck off, and rightfully so too.
fearwhatnow i guess you are just too pessimistic
- from what i played of Caribbean v1.0 it feels like the most polished mount and blade game at launch (not a hard thing to do), even though the game was stuck in development hell for years prior to early access.
Even though one siege location is bad but they will release other one for free
anyone know if this is playable in its 1.0 form? or should I say enjoyable?
Just played it for 20 min, there are better games with this theme out there, one of them more than 25 years old (Or only 21 if you get the glorious 16 bit version).
It's the same old M&B, however... they have not implemented LOOT
In the beginning I usually wander around for quite a while picking off easy troops, getting better and better loot... however, in Caribbean I've yet to get any loot at all from land battles. Only from ship battles (trade goods from ship battles only, and the ships themselves if I board them)

Today we’re happy to introduce “Blood & Gold: Caribbean!” — a reborn project with a more fitting title, filled with lots of community’s most wanted features. It’s coming to Steam and GOG on December 10th, free for all current owners of “Caribbean!”.
The current game will still be available for download, as its savegames won’t be compatible with B&G, so you can always continue your journey there if you like.
However, we’d strongly advice to make the switch and start anew, because this is what you can expect when the new game comes out in December:
– Addition of the native Caribbean troops.
– Playable female character.
– Ability to take a walk in town.
– All new 3D global map.
– Multiplayer mode.
– Blackjack minigame.
– Quests from governors.
– Special missions, including assassination contracts, some of which require stealth approach.
– New special locations: plantations, mines, monasteries, ruins of Aztec empire.
– Management of the player’s trading caravans.
– Hub for managing player’s business and property in a much more convenient way.
– Completely reworked land battle locations.
– Updated fleet management — ships will have to be kept at bay when you proceed to travel on land.
– Destructible fortifications during sieges.
– New prison escape system.
We’ll explain how some of these new features will work in the coming weeks.

– Illegal horse races with no rules — ask Suspicious man about them if you’re interested.
– Story campaign — pirate adventure about love, revenge, rise to power and killing Spanish governors.
– Unique city locations for each faction.
– Adult content in pirate taverns — be sure to turn it off, if you’re playing with kids.
– City raids — if you need some money and have some thugs in your party, but you don’t feel like risking everything for a siege attack, this is an option for you. Quickly raid a city, killing innocent people and grabbing everything of value.
– New interactions with ships in the sea — you can try trading with other ships or instigate a ship’s crew to throw their officers overboard and join you as pirates.
– New multiplayer mode “Hunger Games”.
Fixed:
– Removed numerous jamming points on the global map.
– Improved AI behavior in land sieges.
– Improved calculation algorithm for boarding parties.
– Added button for quick access to trading convoys.
– Fixed imbalance in prosperity for cities.
