George R.R. Martin has warned book readers they may not be too happy with some of the deaths coming in Season 5 of the TV adaptation.
Speaking to Showbiz411 at the Writers Guild West Awards this weekend, Martin explained show runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have decided to kill off several characters who (at the time of writing) remain unmaimed in the source material.
“People are going to die who don’t die in the books, so even the book readers will be unhappy," he said. "Everybody better be on their toes. David and D.B. are even bloodier than I am.”
Martin also suggested the original plan for seven seasons of the popular HBO show may be slightly flexible after all, as he didn't seem to rule out the possibility of it continuing some way into the future.

The comments in general tend to mention only deaths. Like there isn't anything else about this show except the shock value of seemingly important characters dying.
Oh wait, there isn't anything else.
Deaths are being mentioned fervently since it's a special thing in book/show land where main chars are immortal beings.
Martin identifies five characters who would survive:
That's actually not a bad choice.. I would be pretty happy with this outcome.
well honestly those are pretty logic choices for survivors But who knows if he changed mind about that - afterall this was just trilogy pitch from 1996.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
Would'nt it be more wise to finish the damn books first?
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

It is well-known that the show will catch up with the books pretty soon, so waiting for the books to be done would be waiting for a decade to resume the show.
