An FX-55 runs at 2.6ghz, so I think they really mean an AMD Athlon 2800+, not an AMD with 2.8ghz.

for those that are curious if low end machines will run it...
it seems there is an option to decide which version of Pixel Shading you want to use... so I guess even the "low-end" systems can play it.

Well, I am not too crazy about it but it might get better.. Visuals are nothing special. You can really feel it's console roots. Had one crash to desktop already. Feels buggy.
Gonna fiddle around a little bit with settings and see how it runs.

Well.....I hated the Revolutions ending. The Matrix was awesome and Reloaded was a great building block for the finally. A computer can change it's mind faster than you or I can say 10101. I just didn't like the agreement angle. KILL THE MACHINES!! Please stick to the plot and KILL THE MACHINES!! That was the focus the whole trilogy. It's like waiting for System Shock III to come out and they say it's coming out and then 3 months before it comes out............they cancel it! Uhhgggg! It would have been cool to see the Architect die and to see Zion's people walk out from the depths of Earth looking up at the scorched sky, not being afraid for the first time in their lives. Human kind could start over from scratch. Instead, they are going to keep using humans for power. DAMN!!! I didn't see Neo and the Hive Mind Shake ON IT!!!! MATRIX 4 Raw Deal! Neo gets cybernetic eye implants and decides to take down the Mind Hive after he sees machines killing people. Now that would be good! Get rid of the trilogy thought and make a fourth installment. I remember being destroyed at the end of Revolutions, cheated. So hopefully I can get what I need out of the Path of Neo.
Thanks for the info,
MD |
The point of the trilogy was NEVER about killing the machines. It was about freeing mankind and re-establishing their civilization. But that was on the surface level. The actual theme that runs throughout the movie is about enlightenment in the Hindu and Buddhist sense. Which is to recognize that "there is no spoon", which means that everything around you is just YOU, or rather the Self (the Oracle constantly tells Neo to Know Thy Self, which is the atman of the Hindu sense). Revolutions ties it up by showing that Neo accepts he is one with Smith, and lets himself merge into him. Both halves become whole again, and light shines through both Neo and Smith's pores representing the accomplishment that Neo has just made. He became fully enlightened in the real world, not just the digital world in which the original movie depicted his enlightenment.
The true relationship between Neo and Smith is the relationship of the Ego and Atman. The Upanishads, the Bhagavad-Gita, and the Ramayana were the core books used by the Wachowskis in establishing this trilogy, which is inherently a PHILOSOPHICAL trilogy, not an action trilogy. These books all are Hindu scripture specializing in the nature of the ego and Atman and the clash between the two. The Matrix trilogy is ultimately about finding reality, and Revolutions is EXTREMELY consistent with its prequels in its themes, and fully realizes them with the ending. Revolution's point at the end was Zion was "illusion" as well, that Neo finally achieved enlightenment by escaping Zion and the Matrix. Morpheus's questioning at the end, "Is this real?" or something similar is supposed to clue you in to the unreality of it all. So what is Real, according to the Matrix trilogy? A unitary existence, where consciousness is fully merged with God, the Hindu Brahman, Jehovah, Yahweh, or whatever you would like to call it. It is a place devoid of duality, that is the Real according to the trilogy.
In any case, the Ego is the destructive aspect of man, while the Atman is the divine, serene and peaceful aspect of man. Guess who's who? Neo's the Atman and Smith is the Ego. This is established right after the original movie, though it has its roots in the original. Where Neo goes into Smith and "destroys" him in the end of the original is where Neo's "ego" is copied into Smith. Neo sheds his ego and fully realizes his Atman or Self at least his digital Self. There is a digital analogue to this in that the Architect and the Oracle had conspired to try to "change" the Matrix which represents heaven a place beyond time, static, and something humans could never truly accept BECAUSE it never changes.
Look closely and you'll see the entire trilogy is about the nature of duality being illusion, that everything is cyclical (reincarnation is a part of the cycle and Neo has gone through several incarnations, his sixth iteration being the avatar in the original Matrix and Reloaded where he's Parashurama the sixth avatar of Vishnu the Preserver God in Hinduism, and then transitioning to the 7th avatar of Vishnu, Rama or Jesus Christ if you want, who he actually meets at the train station which is a parallel to the Ramayana. Another conclusion at the end of Revolutions is that enlightenment or freedom for mankind won't come from Neo, it is dependent upon the individual to free himself and to realize his divinity and his unity with the universe. That is when the individual truly becomes free and can achieve what Neo achieved. By the way, Neo's body at the end when it is carried away by the machines forms a Lotus, which is one of the flowers that Vishnu holds in one of his many hands. The Lotus in Hinduism represents the return of Truth, Satya, or in other words, the return of the Golden Age Satya Yuga which is symbolized by Sati raising the sun at the end by her own will.
There's much more to the trilogy than what I've stated here, but this is pretty much the core of what it all means. The Wachowski brothers didn't intend for machines to be killed off as that is completely against the message of the movies. The message was that both man and machines were dominated by their egoes and firmly established their duality with each other, and thus were engaged in a recurring battle with each other, until they finally respect one another and see each other as divine in nature. |
WOW!! That is an awesome explanation. I really appreciate you clearing many things up. I am going to have to watch the trilogy again with this in mind. Obviously I had no idea this is what the Matrix meant. Maybe to many action movies have been seen by me! LOL!
Thanks,
MD

sorry. but that´s my opinion. you will see in about one or two played hours, why they never released a playable demo before retail release. that´s not only in this case but for all overhyped games in the last weeks/months/years.
no, they don´t get any bucks out of my pocket!
