That's not true for the NUCs Areius, they don't update that quickly.

@ Leo: thing is that they haven't announced a release date yet, they're not listed yet here either and this guy needs a PC very soon Smile

Sabs.

Have you tried the keytest from the thread below? Worth a shot, just make sure to follow instructions for getting your product & vendor info first Smile

Just by reading the post I can see that it doesn't seem like it applies to me, my "HOME" button on the keyboard works perfectly and does exactly what it's supposed to. It's really only the @ symbol (on the far right) that doesn't, but that's okay because shift-2 is @ and that's fine. The only other change is that in XBMC rather than r-mouse being context menu, it's "C", as r-mouse seems to be a global "back" key throughout Android on every app I've tried. Also, my power key actually turns the screen off and goes into sleep, much like a phone when tapping power button.

No biggie! Thanks anyway Scara, much appreciated

I did try to install the Windows 8 drivers but no go.. and I think they may have corrupted the USB stack since I've gotten two BSODs since then. FML Facepalm

I had to roll back on Restore in order to undo the changes to the USB drivers I made and the BSODs stopped.. but not because of what I thought. Restoring to a previous time also removed a couple of apps I'd installed the same day and one of those was PS3 Media Server. I finally got around to reinstalling yesterday since DLNA fucking sucks ass and refuses to stream X file because of Y reason because FUCK YOU that's why, so yeah.. I reinstall PMS and not half an hour later, BSOD.

"bad_pool_header"

Remove PMS, no more BSODs. Reinstall and stream another file... BSOD.

"bad_pool_header"

Never got any BSODs with PMS on Windows 7.

I hate Windows 8.1
I hate PCs.
I hate everything.

Fuck everything, I give up Sad

Well that sucks Neutral

Have you tried Plex? Capable of doing the same shit as PS3 MS.

Anyway, for NUCs:

Bloody fantastic. 4 parts, entire PC done and I'm willing to bet it's faster than both my HTPC and fileserver (it'll boot faster at least because this is an SSD). Completely inaudible too. The latter actually blew a fuse on the motherboard the other day, so I've just refreshed that one too (that was the box still running the EE955 - which is still fine, but fuck trying to find a 775 board now Very Happy). That's now on a G3240; this NUC is an i3-4010.

i3-4010, 4 GB of RAM, 256 GB SSD and WiFi AC for 400 EUR. In a box that's only about twice as big as the bloody adapter that comes with it Laughing

And the Broadwell ones are even smaller. Very Happy

I'll wait for the Intel Atom box I ordered, if it is adequate, I will stick with that until a model comes with hardware h265 acceleration. But if not, will get a Broadwell NUC.

Creating a bootable USB drive atm so I can start setting this thing up.

Bonus points for Intel: They have a driver bundle available. Yeah, that's right. Single package that has everything in it instead of lots of separate packages.

Eh. I see it starts to pop in some stores I have never heard of and on Ebay. I was looking at NUC5i5RYK and prices are quite ridiculous, even above MSRP.

Bought this one http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/nuc/nuc-kit-nuc5i3ryk.html about a month ago and it's amaznig device for running OpenELEC. I added 4GB of 1600MHz RAM + 32GB Cruzer Fit 3.0 USB stick and it is definitely enough for OpenELEC and REMUX-content. Sure cheaper device could also do the job but still for me this was worth buying.

Eg. iPad or/& iPhone is just about enough for remote controlling thanks to Kodi remote app.

You don't need a NUC for OpenElec/Kodi, even an Atom stick/tablet can play 1080p remuxes with ~30% CPU usage.

So I5 version would be an overkill for ~40gb remux?

Yes, I play them on my 100$ Atom china shit. If that is your only reasoning for buying one, then you really do not need to.

Even a Raspberry Pi can do that.

Personally I suggest to try it with Pi 2 even though it's missing HEVC support but it might do the job for it's price.
