Well it (still) looks pretty nice, which would be because of those very detailed scenes.
But a few of the textures and parts on models have scary low quality
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
The Witcher 3’s fights are mighty similar to those found in its predecessor. Use your sword up close, draw sigils to cast magic, and learn to parry or pay the price with your life. For those like me who found The Witcher 2 uncomfortably difficult in the early going (and I’ve finished Dark Souls without breaking a sweat or a controller), you’ll be relieved that the latest entry is toned down. Sure, there’s a challenge if you’re hankering for pain, but for those who want to enjoy the scenery and story, you can progress to the more thoughtful aspects without too much standing in your way.
But if the nicest thing I can say about the combat is that it’s more accessible, well, that isn’t so hot. The fights felt more like distractions from what I wanted to do rather than exciting forays in their own right. It lacks the thrill of the unknown that dominates Dragon’s Dogma or the steely determination demanded by Dark Souls. It’s much closer to the feel of a game like Skyrim, giving you something to do in this incredible world other than talk to people and look at the scenery.

That looks really nice, the world layout seems so much more organic, you don't just come out of a forest and you're in the middle of a huge city.. it's more like little settlements just nestled into the foot of a mountain with a few dozen houses. Looks good

Is that PC with a derptroller or PeasantStationOne?
To be honest, it looks like PC. I'd be amazed if they were on the XB. Not because "oooh, those visuals were better than anything I've ever seen!!" but because of the density of the world, the foliage detail, the view distance, etc.

There were lots of hitches and glitches. On the upside, most of the glitches I encountered were graphical in nature, and those can be fixed up with a few more months of polish. Still, there were a lot of them, not to mention a frame rate that would occasionally drop into the single digits. While I'll still give CDP the benefit of the doubt on this one, I am slightly worried given the series' history of launching with, let us say, some issues.

Polish guys that also played didnt have fps counter but they say the game was set to high settings(not max) and there were signicant fps drops outside, accourding to them probably around 30-35fps. Yeah CDPR will optimize it till release NOT

The unfinished preview build had plenty of bugs, which explains the recent delay for polish. The griffon chase twice ended with the griffon flying inside a hill where he couldn't be hit. The horse struggled on uneven terrain. All the guards in Skellige castle started randomly attacking Geralt after a cutscene. There's a chance these will be fixed before release, but we're praying The Witcher 3 doesn't become the next Assassin's Creed: Unity. Luckily the screen-tear you might read about in other previews didn't apply to the PC version, which looked beautiful throughout.

Combat is the aspect of The Witcher 3's I'm most worried about. Your move set is comparable to The Witcher 2, so you have heavy and light attacks and a dodge command. Dodging now causes Geralt to dart rather than roll, though you can hold the button down to have him dive roll a greater distance—ideal when fighting monsters with big long arms. You can also hold a parry button to block, and tap it at the last second to parry an incoming strike and send your opponent staggering.

One of the polish sites stated that it was running on
Intel Core i7-4790
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980
8gb ram
SSD 120 GB
Windows 8.1 64-bit
and that it was about 30 frames, with drops.
He doesn't believe that one single card will max it out and with lower quality tech you will most likely play on low/medium at most.
the average PC (any Core i3 or Core i5 plus GTX 660 / HD 7870) is unlikely to allow for the inclusion of high or even medium-sized parts. I do not believe in miracles.

Well, I hope this game won't be an unoptimized piece of bullshit. I hope...
You already have been told it is. What are you hoping for? That they do magic in 3 month close to release? Not going to happen.
@madness
Aww, baby was offended,
Poor neogaf flower. Go back to hugbox.
I'm hoping that what they got to play was an older build and that they've improved on it. The simple fact that I didn't pre-order this like a complete mong gives me a chance to wait for reviews, performance vids and then later decide for myself AFTER release if I want to purchase it or not.
I have no problems waiting a year before purchasing this and then it will be like 10€ which will be perfect.
Yeah, let the fanboys buy the beta and lets wait for the enhanced "golden master" edition.
Allthough I played W2 on release and it was good enough.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
@IamAWESOME
In that video they mentioned few times that combat is rather hard, I assume to akin to W1-2.
here is the question tho - how are they gonna balance it so the player won't worn out so quickly? Unlike previous games, this one is open world so if combat will be that hard all the time at some point players may do the same thing as many did in Dragon Age 3 (but for different reasons) - "screw the optional content, I just want to finish it and be done with."
@Prefetian
Well, year later - may be. But not at launch. Nobody will be doing any drastic changes before gld release.
Unless they delay it again, ofc.

TW1 was. TW2 was. TW3 will be.
I am not saying TW2 was well optimized, but I thought it played fairly well on medium-high setings at the time on my previous GPU (AMD 5850). I expect TW3 will be much worse in that regard. Mostly because it's releasing on multiple platforms at the same time and because it will be neXtGen eXPerience.
It ran like shit on my i5-2500k and a 570, which is significantly faster than the 5850. And before anyone decides to dogpile me again, yes, please do go read the TW2 thread and see plenty of statements from people backing me up (wahey, that's a first) - including ixi, who had an identical system and had the same identical problems.
Fairly well meaning 30fps, I take it? Which is fine for most people, but felt terrible to me
And yes, I also expect TW3 to be significantly worse. Chugging down to single digits on a 980. Glorious.
