Maybe - but thats not really something bad. Good games doesnt automatically require some super advanced engine to be good.

Edit: Correct me if im wrong..but its not the engine that makes a game good...

The dislike of Unity, for me, comes from its terrible performance for what it offers. Hopefully Unity 5 changes that and *vastly* improves the optimisation.

You do have a point - but dunno about you, but I had no problem with Wastelands 2. But hopefully there will be improvements soon Smile

Wastelands 2 was improved drastically from the beta, but there's no denying it had significant issues for a large quantity of people. Luckily it wasn't so bad *after* the beta, but man oh man, the beta was awful for me. Then we have games like Dreamfall Chapters or Might & Magic X, both have lousy performance.

For me, Might and Magic X runs excellent - but it does use abit too much gpu to be acceptable with that kind of graphics. Bloody brilliant game btw Smile
The engine has great potential - but as you said, lets hope they improve it soon Smile

What do you consider "excellent"? Because I had a pair of 570s and it was anything but, often chugging down to 30s and yes, far too much required for *very* unimpressive visuals. The game itself is glorious and I've put over 80hrs into it, but the performance was not excellent by any definition of the word.

i7-2600k and a GTX680.

Mine wasn't that bad but like I said, it chugged down into the 30s when looking in certain directions or at seemingly random times. It was terrible, absolutely terrible.

Oh well, good for you. Sadly for the rest of us (and even on my current 780 games like Satellite Reign are unplayable) Unity has significant issues with performance and optimisation, it has certainly earned its bad reputation of late. Which is a shame.

No didn't mean that, i meant to say that any tard can make a game on Unity these days, hence the degrading quality of games coming out last few years.
Engines these days make it so simple for anyone with basic knowledge to create a simple game.. But what's worse is that they actually sell Neutral

Played this quite a bit today. For anyone that may be wondering, there's a way to avoid the bug that causes your raft/dingy to dematerialize between islands - simply tap left/right rapidly while rowing, this causes the boat to not vanish, for whatever reason.

Anyway, Casa De Immunity is a Lovely 3x2 + 1 hovel located on the Island of "I'm Never Getting the Fuck Out of Here, Am I?"

In all seriousness, I'm enjoying this far more than I did The Forest, simply due to the lack of infinitely spawning bullshit enemies to worry about. The scenery is nicer too. I really hope they stick with this and get it out of Early Access eventually...

Just to be a little bit fair to the Forest... indeed there were a lot of spawns when I tried it, but atm people are whining that there are too little. It's one of those issues in EA access that you will see the most with games: balance adjusting. It takes quite some time and atm I'm willing to bet its not their primary focus when they are still introducing mechanics to the A.I.

Anywho, we'll see when some games are finished. Atm, I have a bit enough of all the E.A. titles out there.

Only way to travel to other islands is by swimming...i usually use the raft/boat up to the point it bugs out and then i swim...or u can swim from beginning...its faster anyways...

been fortunate then as I have not managed to lose the raft, but I have seen it partial sink with items thrown in it to move around islands, infact its almost impossible to row when laden due to physx issues right now.

Played this a little before. Didn't get a bad impression on it, just a little confused what's possible. The similarity to 'The Forest' is there for sure. but it looks nice.

Yep, at the moment it's only possible to ferry stuff back in your actual inventory between islands, which is kind of a pain in the ass. Hopefully they'll eventually add transport containers, or maybe some sort of barge system. I'd really like for there to be different size islands as well - small/medium/large - with large having perhaps caves or some such.

Man, I didn't realize how much I miss staring at your avatar until it was gone! Crying or Very sad Laughing

Sounds nice although on a stranded island with next to no equipment how exactly would you craft a boat motor. Razz
(Please be 8 crabs and 4 pieces of string. Very Happy )

EDIT: Stranded on a island, not a stranded island as that's a bit, weird.

EDIT: Oh I didn't see the smiley there.
(Still looking for that sniper rifle in Vanishing of Ethan Carter too, heh. )

I guess I'm not being fair towards the game as it's alpha 0.01. It has lots of potential, I like the calmer setting of the caribbean than running from zombiehordes in generic some post apocalyptic city/world.

Currently it really needs like a map or at least markerpoints. After I got to a second island, I forgot which direction my home island was Laughing

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
