Christian fundamentalist twitter users have gathered themselves in a coordinated attempt to troll-report Godless Spellchecker's (Blogger) Twitter account and posts as abuse / harassement, hence violation of the terms of use.

Unfortunatelly, Twitter didnt actually fact-check the affected tweets and basically just let the abuse system democratically judge the situation.

The blogger has issued several support request for a human twitter employee to take a look at the allegations and judge for himself, however there has been no such evaluation yet.

Article:

This is really bad. It's like censorship. Click to censor, nobody will fact-check it - if enough people regulary click on report/abuse, the user's account will automatically be suspended.

Imagine if your YouTube or Twitch account will be permanently be deleted by such a system. I mean, the copyright strike system is bad already, but what if someone is organizing a troll movement a la 4chan or reddit, just to prank-suspend you off the internet?

That's really bad, very, very bad. Please share!

It happens on YouTube and happens on twitch and on Twitter. Trolls can get away with everything when it's online related. They have automated systems. Once flooded with 'reports' they will take action.

It's a flawed system. But it works in some cases such as stopping people from posting cp, doxing, actual threats and other bad bad things. Obviously reg people will end up as collateral damage. But in the end contacting real support things get sorted out. It's a nuisance. But with a flawed system they are aware of these situations and are able to reverse the process.

So it's all good.

If Twitter and Facebook were smart, they'd sell "professional" accounts. These would pay for human intervention and would safeguard against idiots getting your account shut down in cases of trolls. I can understand that Twitter does not have the means to evaluate every case by hand - it would cost huge amounts of money for what is still a free service. The fact that people with a larger profile fall victim with no recourse just shows there needs to be a platform available to them.

We have this service at work as well with Adobe selling their software to companies at a premium but as a result, you get a much quicker response when you need help and you receive a special help line. Regular users can receive no such help and have to go through the Live Chat channels which, while also good, are less personalized and often can't help to the full extent.

That's a stupid idea. So only rich people would be able to afford these "safe" accounts, while it's ok for less fortunate to get trolled. Rolling Eyes

The least they could do now is copy/paste that list of blatantly bullshit reports that led to this and ban those users, permanently, in return. If you don't take out the trash, it'll pile up.
