i remember one of the vagrant story releases on the psx having the best compression ratio for a game ever.
the game was around 80 MB only packed, and over 600 MB unpacked,
and besides, ps2 games that unpack to a full dvd5 are mostly sub 3 GB games filled with
alot of dummy files, the games that are really over 4 GB dont hit the max size of the disk.
take for example these guilty gear games on ps2, packed 400 MB, unpacked 4,38 GB, can be ripped onto a single cd without anything missing.
many developers use dummy files because the disc is easier to read by the ps2 laser then.

If I am not mistaken, PS2 game uses WAV sound format, WAV is uncompress sound format. Ii it's compress using RAR or ZIP, the size of the file will reduce significantly, close to the size of an mp3. I might be wrong.

The combat system in this game is really good, very intuitive and not just a one button masher like ETM. Its got some real good things going for it. The bad things are the frame rte is kinda twitchy and it sufferrs from a bad camera situations soetimes when ur fighting. Its not bad like ETM bad where the camera gets stuck behind objects and obscures ur view. But its enough to cuz some minor annoyance. One other negative is JUMP THE FUCKING GAP moments. I hate em its why i dont play platformers, and its these things in games that cause no and of controller pounding from frustration. But i can overlook these moments because the combat system makes it a fun game. Love pulling off focus moves and whipping the camera round bullet time style. I'll give it a 7.5/10 good for killing some time because it has some fun quirks

extract the iso (i use craxtion) there are many others. go into the movie folder there's 3 files to look for one has the word OUTAKES in it one has the word trailer and the other has makingof. delete em remake the iso (again i used craxtion but there are others) burn and play. If you want the full dvd search for a tool that downconverts the .sfd movie files theyre just mpeg1, same as sega dreamcast. Downsample replace reburn

OMG the genius ripped dvd5 version is actually bigger to download (only 50 megs) than the dvd9 version by riot , but how the hell does that work
As for framerate, the 360 version runs smooth, while the PS3 is a jaggy mess that chugs along in slow motion.

no i got the dvd9 version extracted the iso deleted the outtakes, trailer and making of and reformed the iso and it fitted otno the dvd,
by the way the game is brilliant, you now have contorl over multi enemy moves and can do up to three people at once in the beginning probably more later on, all the animation are greta and the whole combat system is the best in any game (i have always wanted one with great looking fihgting like in the movies rather than a hit hit hit dead system with every other fighting game (spartan for example)
the sword is GREAT to use. (i think they focused more on the sword combat than the hand to hand combat)
plus playing through the story will be great with its differences and of course the new ending, i LOVE IT

thanks for the mini-reviews dvsone and idrisguitar,
I had some second thoughts about getting the xbox version after seeing the screenshots, but the animations from the trailers looked decent...you just never know what you're going to get with these movie-games (usually they're real let downs).

you can only Choose upgrades that are highlighted by a white Aura , I was confused at first as well , Choose disarm 2 i think
The camera for me isn't a problem , Its the targeting . Its aiming at people through walls and on levels beneath you which Sometimes gets right on my tits , Like the combat system but I'm Finding it very monotonous tbh , Ill probably stick with it though

well i just beat the whole game i wont spoil it but i stand by what i said earlier about the frame rate in some places it gets choppy but the lighting effects on some of the levels are up there with splinter cell chaos theory. There's some great detail in some of the levels. But the combat system imho is just so much fun so many combinations of moves. When you get about mid way in the game the combat system really oens up after that point i pretty much stopped using guns cuz u can stop bullets and send em flying back. The weapon combat is superb. I'll add a .5 to my original rating and gve it a solid 8 if the frame rate was a lil more consistant it woulda been a 9

the beauty of the combat system is u can easily mash but later when ur fighting multipkle agents u gotta klearn to chain things up or u'll get owned. U can link moves together in almost any comination stick with it and experiment its deeper than it looks

I just played the first couple of minutes and it seemed like a mass of confusion. After they cutscene to the guards coming out of the elevator, WTF do they re-initate the action with you in the middle of the room to get shot up? I'm feeling the controller vibrate from gunshots before the screen fades back.

upgrades are already assigned that screen witht the circles is just telling u know what the upgrades do and what u have. as for the first scene witht the elevator that is so the computer can work out how good u are and assign u with the right level of difficulty, games good and different enough to want to keep playing , using dvd5 version here with no problems at all about an hour in a pal xbox set to ntsc to keep that frame rate up a little higher.
