I recently found out even razor blades have imitations. Does anybody here use them? I use the Gillette Fusion, a blade lasts about a month. It's a bit uncomfortable the last week since the blades aren't very sharp anymore, but I endure Sad The blades are so fucking expensives though, ridiculous. How are the imitation blades? Link below for example.

http://www.eijssenshop.nl/product/scheermesjes-voor-gillette-4st/

I've also thought about going oldschool, like my granddaddy used to shave. How is that compared to Gillette? Initial investment isn't cheap, but the blades are 30-60 cents a piece (Gillette Fusion is about 3 euros for a blade Evil or Very Mad ).

Grab them when they're on offer. They're regularly on one of the "daily deal" sites, where you get 24 for 30 EUR or something like that.

It really works. Just run the razor up (and down, but not in the "shaving" direction) a pair of denim jeans and it helps buff out nicks in the blade and keep them sharp Smile

As for me? I use the "new generation of razors, yo!" -- and yes, they're fucking insanely expensive. I'd prefer to use an electric razor but dealing with the kind of growth I get means that I'd need a high-end £100+ razor and fuck that Neutral The cheap ones just yank and pull at the hair, not leaving a smooth shave Sad Recently I found some new blades called "Mr Parker", they're half the price of Wilkinson's or Gillette and yet they're still a really nice shave.

http://www.thedieline.com/blog/2014/5/9/mr-parker

I do prefer Wilkinson Sword but that's a British company and you can't get the blades in Norway Sad

Wilkinson Sword Classic since a few months:

Not recommended if it has to be a quick shave though. Takes me up to 15 minutes with all the pre- and after-shaving work.
But definately the cheapest method, and my skin gets less irritated than by using an electric shaver

i use gillette mach 3 turbo, and i use one blade for about 1 year if not more. 1 shave/week, right after a bath. hot water on face is probably the key, and regular shaving Smile. and not using that fusion crap. had it, hate it,i trow it away.

1' gillette shavin gel, 2' blade, 3' gillette gel aftershave for sensible skin. http://www.premierexports.co.uk/shaving-cream-gel/2914-gillette-fusion-hydra-cool-aftershave-gel-100ml.html something like it. but i canot find it anymore, last time i get 3 bottles from greece :/ one bottle left.

btw, use this (leather) not jeans. is cheap from hong kong Smile).

Yup, I trim too. To a short 1mm stubble about once every two weeks, and during the week just a bit at the neck and the outlines.

Been using the Gilette Mach 3 for a decade now but I'm looking to change to something else..
They only shave close enough for the first 2-3 shaves, then they quickly lose edge. they are not so cheap and I try to go with one for 2-3 weeks, at the end its mostly so dulled down that it hurts shaving and my skin gets irritated
is there any other type of safety razor that -shaves even closer -does not lose edge that fast?

I use a double edge safety razor and from time to time a straight razor.

Double edge because, imo, the shave is waayyyy more comfortable than any Mach3 bullshit, and also a lot cheaper (blades cost 5 to 25cents each, and last me about 5-6 shaves).

I use my straights for the chin strap and stuff like that. I used to only use my them but I need to send them honing and i'm too lazy for that.

Wet shaving changed me! So cheaper than the usual mach 3, gillette or shick razors, and so much comfortable!

I have like 7-8 soaps I use. I have a soap acquisition disorder hehehe! But still, with these soaps, im good for 5+ years. I have a puck of hard soap that i've been using for like, 2 years, and I stil havent even reached halfway of the puck.

I order all my stuff from http://www.italianbarber.com/ for Soap and DE stuff, and http://www.classicedge.ca/ for my straight razor honing, leather strops, chromium oxyde and all that.

I don't think you need to pay a lot for a double bladed razors. The comb change as the lenght/weight too , but the rest is mostly the same. What shave is the blade itself, not the handle. Merkur razors seems to be a popular choice, especially the 34C model.

I use a 3 pieces closed comb razor that I bought for like 20$ on italianbarber. I like it because it's heavy in hand and feels really sturdy. Full stainless steel. Kinda look like this one but has a longuer handle and a different grip. I really like it.
