If you were a backer, you have a choice where you start (depending on what your KS rewards were)
If you weren't, I think it's random

I guess not so random - you could pop in a system with no other players in days of travel lol

Well it's not so much the starting area, as the inclusion of those named space stations. Frontier had lots of stations named after sci-fi/fantasy movies and novels, I liked that little detail.

Ppl who preordered can now download the combat tutorials from their store and play them.
EDIT: and they are awesome. I'm getting the hang of the whole mouse controls, and using WASD to supplement it works really well. I failed the last mission, but the others were a really good way to try my hands on the combat before release.

FD confirming what we already know.

TL;DR - We rushed the release and half the features are not finished, so we'll add them when we get to it - but please, buy our unfinished game.

During alpha it was claimed beta > gamma would be last wipe. Fair enough, I tested bug reported etc...
Gamma comes out and then they start hinting at likelyhood of another wipe. My actual incentive to play THIS close to release knowing the wipe is 90% going to happen made my actual desire to play the game during gamma phase vanish.
Whats the point.

I first played in the gamma release, but I have the same feeling, I like the game, but haven't played more than 5-6 hours because they'll probably wipe, and while I like trading items, the fun part is the progress, which is non-existent if they do decide to wipe.

From a consumer's perspective, it's only evident they wipe the game before launch. The beta/gamma players still have the advantage of having experience in the game, plus other stuff like access to Sol (for some).
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

And potentially help them sell a copy? And probably for less? No thanks. |
I love your instant provoked thoughts
It was more in the spirit of helping maybe someone here in hump with a copy for less, you know doing something nice for someone instead of just a full refund.
^^ think about that

And a sale's a sale, they don't deserve it. I'd sooner get the money back and give away something else, and that's *if* I was going to 'do something nice for someone'. |
heh come on it took you 10.5hrs to think and write "And potentially help them sell a copy? And probably for less? No thanks."
I will have to sit out on that one, but of course I don't believe it for a moment
it is your money regarding the refund or not so enjoy whatever you do.
