 Spoiler: | Well the decision for sending all their troops was made by a previous senator that is the head of CIA, it is well covered during the show that he's not fit to run an agency like that. Especially when it comes to operations.
That being said, it's a show there has to be some things that make less sense to add some possibilities.
Apart from that, I think most agencies/department are able to do quite retarded stuff. Even if it's the CIA.

I used to love this show as well, and had to stop after season 3

i find the season started great, had 2 or 3 slow episodes shortly after | Spoiler: | boy fucking drama |
and has been great since.
definitely didnt expect this season to be good after the lacklustre 2 before.

This has to be one of the most cliffangerish cliffhangers ever cliffhanged in a show, damn it! 
I 100% agree with you guys, I was prepared for the worst possible scenario this season, but so far there have been many positive surprises. Even if the writing is still a bit noobish at times, the pace is really solid.

I liked it too, though some obvious idiocies had to be suffered And I'm still a bit tired of CIA getting fucked over, over, over and over again I really hope they start scoring some points now - and I don't mean just killing Haqqani either, because at this point, that's not really that much of a win. So far, the whole season has been about ISI being clever and dangerous and CIA being stupid/emotional/unfit for their jobs - barely saving scraps from a bad situation. Even one of the biggest wins for the Americans this season | Spoiler: | outing of the ambasador's husband |
has been done by a Pakistani officer Such one-sidedness is not good for the story in the long run.
As a side note:
| Spoiler: | Who knows, maybe Saul will get his old job back now?  He's back as a sort of american hero - POW returned home, Brody style (well, let's hope not exactly ). That's a huge political capital and let's be honest, Lockheart is already out the door |

Another great episode, I'm really loving this season (well, the second part, that is). There's still some derp like Aquma pointed out, but works extremely well as entertaining machine, personally I'd put it on par with the first season.
It's Mission Quinnpossible V time now.
