If you do anything but game with your machine look into the 5820k. It's the least expensive of the Haswell-e series, overclocks very well and performs well in games. The fact that it's got six cores is even better for productivity tasks.

Did you get a Haswell E system? What motherboard and memory did you get?

MSI X99S 9AC
Kingston 2666Mhz CL14 16GB
Intel 5820K
Case is Corsair 750D
Cooler is Corsair H110i
Well pleased with this purchase, it's a very quiet system and overclocks very well. I can push it to 4.7ghz with a vcore of 1.3 but it does make the cooler a fair bit louder, so I keep it at 4.2 instead with a vcore of 1.25.
This kinda setup my mechnical keyboard makes more noise than the machine itself.

Well, I'm going for a 4790k, Asus Z97-AR Black, BallistiX 16Gb and a Gainward GTX 980 (triple fans version). But, for an additinal 50 EUR, I can get a 980 G1 Gaming, but I'm not sure if that's worth it? Which is funny, since I'm already buying a 980 over a 970 Smile

Thoughts? I'm buying tomorrow.

Watercooled 5950X | AORUS Master X570 | Asus RTX 3090 TUF Gaming OC | 64Gb RAM | 1Tb 970 Evo Plus + 2Tb 660p | etc etc

Gainward? They still make those? Surprised

Most people here were swearing by the G1 Gaming's, 970 or 980. Dunno how they would compare with the gainward model.

I don't see the 980 as a good purchase right now. Go for the 970 since the performance difference between the 970 and the 980 doesn't justify the much higher price of the 980.

Just found a slight deal on Gigabytes' 970 Windforce OC. Will probably get two of those Smile
Same shop had a slightly cheaper price on the 4790k too, so that's good.

Went with the BenQ, after recomendations from others. Was relatively cheap too with todays' deals. I mean all I really need is the 144hz for games that uses it. If I want great colours and 2560x1080, I'll use the monitor I already have.
