and i bet the performance hit with that kind of data transfer / encrypt / decrypt is way higher than 5%.
but hey, is all for the greater good, right ?

I thought it was a new, complex study on what denuvo does(or doesn't do) to ssd\hdd but it's the same rpgcodex + gamemag post.
1) Lenovo Legion 7 (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3080 16Gb, 32Gb DDR4, SSD 1TB +2TB
2) SFFPC (streaming via Moonlight+ Sunshine)

Very true.. Also the zoom out is useless, it is locked in so closely, it might as well not be there.

according to another post you dont see the the write/read of the denuvo process, is protected.
anyway, is easy to see for anyone who have a legit copy, with a real time ssd monitoring tool and resource monitor, not with process hacker.
hey, donate me one copy of da, and i will test it ^^.

@rgb#000
I've been playing for like an hour and I have Process Explorer opened to monitor I\O writes\reads.
It's~60Mb atm
I have it installed not on SSD though.

Is there a way I can monitor overall reads \ writes on a particular hdd?

Which class do you think performs the worst in AI control? In past games it's definitely been the tank IMO, but does this one improve on it?

As anybody who has ever written a crack in their life will tell you, the part they want to obfuscate is all done in memory (RAM). Encrypting definitely has an impact of performance, though. It does take some CPU time (may be significant), it does take some memory (mostly insignificant these days if they focus on specific files), and it does increase latency (likely insignificant but depends on how often it cycles). It's basically just adding encryption to the disassembly process from the view of the cracker.
We already have encryption on one end (a la Steam, before a game is unlocked) but I feel it is a dangerous step to bring this client-side. It could be a slippery slope, especially with things like TPM (which new machines built for Windows 8+ all invariably have), online features, modding, and more. It makes it difficult to tell what a process is really doing, and that can be risky. Furthermore if a backdoor is ever found you could potentially have "cracks" utilizing encryption in a similar way and introducing another attack vector. I could go on all day about the things they did not think through with this DRM.
In many ways this anti-tamper mechanism is superior to the forms of DRM from the viewpoint of the user. It's certainly cost-effective for the producer. If you're trying to find a way to say it's killing hardware to build a public case against them, well, it's just not there...and faking it won't change the reality. The real issue is the slippery slope and, potentially, risks inherent in a design that might be backdoored during the cracking process well before people are aware enough to patch these things (I certainly don't trust EA to be on the cutting edge with that, myself).
Game is definitely not getting a purchase from me and I'm staying well away from EA. It's not just from principle but from the fact that "anti-tampering" DRM that heads in this direction will lead to a consolized PC gamiing platform.
