Only if you install on an SSD, no? The insane R/W aspect of the shit-ass DRM only seems to effect on SSDs. |
Yeah, that seems to be the case, although I haven't really read up on it because I'm unwilling to touch this game until the DRM is completely removed from it. If it takes weeks, months or years, even -- so be it. I hate BioDerp anyway and their games are getting more and more shallow every year, so it's no biggie.
Of course, I understand if someone wants to try the game; all I'm saying is that whether you buy or "rent" it, your PC will still be exposed to the shitty DRM regardless. And I wouldn't even want a normal HDD to be worn down by some crappy software that would in any other case be labelled a virus or rootkit.

Oh I understand you completely, to be honest.. it's even giving me pause over "borrowing" it too. Even if the "damage" is lesser on HDDs, any negative impact is a negative impact that I don't want.

@Steelone
Yeah, I remember that.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight, good luck with that. |
You would probably end up with 5 russian girls waiting for you in a perfectly controlled environment. With plenty of vodka too.

Did you sell your X360? Why don't you try the game in the console? I only managed to play the PS3 version around 20 minutes yesterday and I still don't know if the game is good. It seemed better than DA2 but I need to play it more.

I read a couple people saying this driver gives a huge boost in the game, some German site did a benchmark comparison and got 25% more FPS. |
In-game benchmark shows little to none boost on my rig.
However, it seems when I actually play the game I get slightly better fps after installing 344-75 drivers.
PS I've just had my first crash. The game crashed right after I pressed "2" on a dialogue wheel.

A second crash during the same dialogue.Although I managed to get a bit further this time. In both cases crash happened exactly at the same time I pressed ESC to skip(well, not skip, I read them, so I didn't wanna waste time listening to them) dialogues lol
I wonder if new drivers is what causes it
I read somewhere it might be related to overlay enabled..I'll check it out l)
PS it was riva tuner overlay indeed. I disabled custom direct3d support and it seems to have fixed it.

So I just rolled a fresh Win7 install inside a VM and I was able to successfully authenticate the game (although not actually play it, apparently a mighty emulated SVGA card with 16MB of RAM doesn't meet the minimum requirements). So the problem definitely lays somewhere in the innards of my C drive it would seem. But fucked if I know what it is.

Someone mentioned earlier a 3GB Patch or a Day One patch incoming. I dont know if it's already applied to mine (bought from Mexican Origin and unlocked with Korean VPN).
Does anyone have more info on that?

seems like 3DM guys are working hard on beating this "not DRM" as they published arcticle about history of DRM encryption as explanation onto why is not DA:I cracked yet and that Denuvo is crackable sooner or later

There hasn't been any patch since it started preloading a few days back. By the sounds of it, it certainly needs a patch, so I'm sure there will be one soon.

This game is fucked up on so many levels.
Playing nightmare ... and just have no motivation to continue. Fights are not hard, they are easy, but they are slow as fuck.
With this potionmechanic, you would have to be braindead to not nail it even on nightmare - I killed the prologue boss on first try (don't know, what the braindead youtube reviewers complained about that fight).
The combat? Nothing tactical about it, imho. Skill trees are limited. There are some build options, but it's straight forward.
I'd call this world of dragonderp.
8 hours played.
This is nothing like DA:O so far. Nothing like it at all, imho.

Would it be possible to somehow play the same bought game on the same account on two different computers with Origin in offline mode? I mean Origin allows to play their games without an internet connection, so how would it know the game is being played on multiple PC's?

That doesn't even begin to describe it.
Things like the tactical cam are beyond useless, and frustrating. They made absolutely ZERO effort to make this m+k compatible. You fight the camera more than the enemies - utter shit. I'm simply amazed, that people DARE release shit like this, and call it decent.
The map is full of stuff to do, but there's just no reason to do it. It's like an MMO, fucking fetch quests, no lore or story elements involved - thus no motivation to do it. No reason to explore, you won't find anything interesting.
Dialogue is at a minimum with non-critical NPCs, and critical NPCs are one dimensional clichés so far.
Combat is ... on par with DA2. It being closer to Origins? Fucking no.
Will still give it a few hours, but I see myself giving it up soon.

How bad is this MMOishness compared to Kingdom of Amalur for example?
