FlyVPN is the easiest and most hassle free in my opinion (just disconnect from it after you've launched the game once, as long as you don't close Origin you can restart the game if needed without being connected).
Is anyone else getting audio hitching during the dialogue? It's only for a split second, but it causes them to skip or repeat a word. I've noticed my frame-rate dips by about 20 when this happens. Is this the super duper encryption scrambling data on my legally bought copy as I fucking play? |
Same situation here. I'll play around with graphics options but I do not think it is related to those...

It's happening during dialogues, when the scene is more or less static - so it's either a CPU or HDD spike (or both?) causing it. $10 says it's DRM related.
Also, just tried a multiplayer match - the game CTD'ed without warning after about 3 minutes in. The matchmaking algorithm also saw fit to throw me in a lobby with all level 15s + running recruit level (1-8 lvl) missions.
So far this game has been nothing but a stunningly shining example of AAA failure on all fronts.

@ixigia I've no doubt that you're correct, unfortunately. Looks we're stuck playing and replaying the old games, still not all bad I still have a few goldbox games I've never played
And I think the first two Gothics are due for a replay as well!

Excellent choice(s) , as soon as I'm done clearing the current backlog, I'll most likely revisit them too. The Risen's of late didn't quite hit the right spot for me.

Still no luck activating it. I was searching for any info and stumbled on this - http://forum.bioware.com/topic/520066-problem-activating-the-game/ - which is more or less a verbatim copy of one of my posts here. I assume one of you lot posted it?
On an unrelated note, I saw this over at Reddit, although I can't test it myself. This will get around the 30fps lock in cutscenes:
-GameTime.MaxSimFps 60 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 60+
Add it to a shortcut, or the command box in Origin I guess.

Correct. SLI-scaling is great!

It's not as good as the first one, but better than the second.

After some hours in, I'm getting more and more a vibe of "Dragon Creed". They added way too many fucking collectibles / busy work with no real sense of importance. Not good. I'm all for more quests/content, but it mainly seems to be mindless padding thus-far. 50% running the fuck around, 30% fighting, 20% actual dialogue (shit that matters).
Don't even get me started on the menu/inventory system.
Also, for the guy that was having the same issue as me earlier, I managed to get my dialogue hitching problem to go away by disabling the Origin in-game overlay. Odd.

Mages are amazingly underpowered, IMO. I just hit lvl 5 and I was wondering if there was any way to re-spec? Ice looks "cool", but half of the mobs are immune to it's effects so I'd rather just have something that deals straight up damage.
The party AI is outright retarded at times. They just stand there while you get your ass handed to you. Being a mage, it doesn't take much to bring me down and of course all of the loot I find is either too high for anyone to use or for rogues (and not always Verric).
Despite what I said above, I think it could be quite enjoyable if I could find a class/playstyle that I like. It does look pretty decent in some areas.

Interinactive wrote: | But how is the fighting, dialogue and world to run around in? |
The fighting is even more actiony than DA2. And it feels like there's way too much of it, enemies constantly respawn all over the place. I'm playing on normal mode and haven't had to use the tactical view at all.
Dialogue is the typical DA2/Mass Effect style where you can choose good, bad and neutral responses, and sometimes investigate further. You can unlock perks that give you more dialogue choices but I haven't done that yet.
The world is broken up into different zones, but each one is pretty huge. I've spent 10 hours in the first zone so far and still haven't done everything in it. Exploring pays off since you can find dungeons, rare ingredients, loot, etc.

Wasn't there supposed to be some mechanic where you could move in your own forces to hold areas, which stops enemy respawning? Probably not available in the first area though, at least not right away, as I think you need the map table thing for that?

Not sure if you can do it at the table, but I did finish one quest that stopped two groups of enemies from spawning. However there are still plenty of annoying bandits and animals.

Played a bit as a Mage, hated it. The spell effects are nice but they are boring to play with. And the staff is dull as hell. So I made a warrior. Its a bit better since I don't have to fight with the auto target as much.
The world really is huge but I was greeted with MMO style quests, just wandering around got myself a laundry list of them. That killed my mood quite a bit. Especially since I've been playing WoW and actually enjoying the quest there more than in a single player game...
No comment on the writing and story yet because I haven't progressed far enough.
One thing that I really don't like is Cassandra's voice actress. She sounds like she is always mourning or crying when she speaks, regardless of her actual tone.
