i hear this future proof every year, there is no such thing, especially when games designed by ubilol

upgrading video to 970 or 980 now would wiser than buying overpriced cpu+mobo+ram, unless if you still run some c2d+ddr2

I have a HD7970, apparently it's already minimum (damn you Unity). I lol at future proof. Just buy the best you can IMO.

Why would you need a i7? What's your current CPU?

no someone took control over me and typing Rolling Eyes Razz

you may actually get 20 fps from that setup with your current card, but how much will you spend at the end, 970 not only gonna give you more fps boost but it will be more efficient
again what are your current specs cpu, mobo is always irrelevant, so is ram, unless you overclocking then again it's all about cpu power

The R280X is basically a rebranded HD7970. The upgrade to 970 is not worth it imo, UNLESS you can sell your card for 200 right now.

It uses 100W less? Are you high? Sites like Anand and TomsHW must be high otherwise. I've been using both Nvidia and AMD/Ati for a long time, both have shitty drivers from time to time. What problems did you have with Ati drivers?

most games if not all optimized for nvidia, simple as that and amd spit on their customers when it comes to older gen gfx support, which is in fact just a rebrand

Toms chart is not system power consumption. Which article you link to shows a 100W difference?

AMD does rebrands? Such devils. I'm sure Nvidia never did that. I don't see how this turned into an AMD vs. Nvidia thing. I care nothing for brands. An upgrade from his current GPU to a GTX970, like you suggest, is useless IMO unless he can sell his card for a nice price. Whether he buys Nvidia or AMD is irrelevant.

70w whatever

7970 is 280x aka rebrands, nvidia did that shit too, we are speaking about present, not past
nVidia dominates in terms of stability and game compatibility, if it was amd i would gladly switch, but you need 650w to run fx 8350+290, where with intel i7+970 500 is more than enough with the room to spare and you get better performance

i see mp now, it's flooded with amd cards and everyone switching to nvidia Laughing

All of these use total system consumption to measure. TPU are the only ones these days who measure at the PCI-e connectors and the PCI-e slot. Xbit used to, but not anymore Sad

Try around 20W: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GTX_970_STRIX_OC/23.html

Same review, try 40% faster and not 100% faster: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GTX_970_STRIX_OC/25.html
And that's assuming 1080p, at 1440p/1600p the difference shrinks to about 33%.

The 970 is the clear victor, but as an upgrade it's still a pretty hefty investment. I'm mostly just calling you on the bullshit you're spewing. Get your facts straight.

I'll just Laughing here. You clearly don't play "old" games enough.

i don't see 7970=280x on that list and try to play ACU on 280x Laughing
and the fact that 970 is faster than 290 is already shows domination
hefty? that i7 alone cost as much as 970 Razz
i play alot of old games Smile
