I can wait all I want. It's so stupid when they discontinue the updating of older phones :\ And by old I mean one year old...

Duh, low end budget phone, not worthy at all for the "time and effort".
HTC One (M7) and Mini, are still getting Android L update.

Just because it's low budget doesn't mean they should just scrap them altogether :S
That's why my next phone will be lumia I'm done with android.

@dingo: Why don't you go for some other brand? The emerging chinese brands seem to be really great alternatives to those expensive brands that are marketed in europe. F.e. Meizu's or Xiaomi's Phones look really great and with xiaomi you rarely have to theink about product support for new versions...

I don't see why HTC wastes their time with shitty low end budget phones anyway, told them this many times already on Elevate..
Their are having problems with sales, so what do they do, instead of putting out 1 or 2 solid phones that they fully support etc, they bring out 9 (or something, not going to count now) different ones in a single year
Nah low end phones should be made by unknown companies where you have no idea what you get or how it works.
Oh and don't go Android and complain about software updates honestly, because if you just invest an hour or so of your time, you could read through the A forums of your phone and have it rooted/s-off in no time with custom rom runing latest software and free of bloatware.

The vast majority of Android phones sold are "low end" devices, not the flagships. And that's not counting the countless Chinese cheap ones that don't enter into Google's statistics.

Because people like my parents don't need flagship phones, but they do need a solid device that gets updated so that the apps they do use keep working fine, so bugs get fixed, and so on. That rules out 90% of all manufacturers.
My dad got a Moto G (2014) recently and that thing is _exactly_ what HTC has been trying to do. In fact, I dare say that the Moto G is better value than any "flagship" right now. It costs 180 and puts many "flagship" devices to shame.
In before: iOS gets updated on older devices
Also costs 4 times as much when bought separately or about 8-10 times as much on contract. And no, on contract isn't cheaper here. So fuck off, that's not what my parents want or need <3

Yeah I've got a moto g. Excellent, and a quarter the price of a flagship.

So what about lolipop not letting people root the device? Is that implemented or was it just hot air?

I got this phone as a payment, it works so I really don't need a new one, altho the lack of RAM is killing me (and the fact that all the apps are installed internally and you can't move them to your 32GB SD card -.-"").
@sausje: I rooted my old phone, and that shit was unstable as hell, sometimes I couldn't receive calls, so no thank you I'm not rooting anything anytime soon

Just rooting doesn't cause that, unless you did something utter stupid. (no offensive, but that's how it really is..)
And if you installed a unstable rom, it's your own fault too, on A they clearly say in topics if the topic is ready for daily use or not and bugs are reported in the topics too.
So by reading a little further than just the first few rules in the topic, you could had avoided it.

Meh, don't really Lollipop. While visual it looks not bad, many functions are worse. At least for me, and mainly because Xposed Framework is not working anymore and probably won't for at least a month
I flashed the factory image and of course Googe Play Services are again sucking at my battery because they somehow always create network traffic
