For every % of "brainpower" she gained, I lost an equal amount of IQ points. Visual effects were better than I thought, though.
But the whole premise and pseudo science are so utterly stupid, I could never suspend my disbelief. What the hell was Morgan 'Through the Wormhole' Freeman thinking??

Its over exaggerated on purpose movie, how could you loose IQ when she gain brain power lol, did you take it too seriously? Very Happy

I really don't get why people use the exaggerate excuse on so many movies. If it's done shit (which most of the time is) it's still shit. No matter if the shit was on purpose.

Interstellar - 8/10 - I went to see it in IMAX, it was pretty good. The first hour and half (I didn't look at my watch) was excellent. The premise was great, the atmophere was great, the acting was superb, there was mystery. It all came together in perfect harmony, giving me the "this is going to be one of the best movies I'll ever watch" vibe. Easily worth a 9.5.
After that however, it turned into an above average Hollywood flick with some cliche light philosophical dialogue, extremely predictable turn of events (which slaps you in the face with a huge "THIS IS STILL A HOLLYWOOD MOVIE HAHA") and to top it off a feel good mellow ending.

Excellent first half or so, above average rest.

Exactly what I thought after seeing it on Saturday. First half great, second... eh. 8/10 indeed

Maybe because its basically a different genre of a movie and its luc besson`s trademark at the same time?

The Fifth Element was pretty good imo.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

The DC of Leon the Professional is shit as well, I wish I never saw that version...

I do like exaggerated movies, if they're done right (Planet Terror, Iron Sky, Cabin in the Woods and the likes).

IMO.. Besson has made several good (not necessaily great although some of them can be described as great as well) movies it's just that his first efforts were more or less all well received while after 1997's The Fifth Element to find his next good movie you have to skip to 2010's The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec, which is actually his first and last good movie he made since his "classics".

BTW it seems to me no one ever mentions Adele, while it's nothing extraordinary it was fun! Razz

interstellar 7.5/10

pretty cool... in IMAX the music and visuals are really something... would love to see it in VR... like was was said though the second half sort of messes things up and dilutes the product... still decent.... felt really rushed at times but then again I suppose they couldn't develop every single plot line.

Everyone is all over this movie like I said previously, the score will settle down after people reactions will calm down a little bit, as usual. Imo for now its just overrated because its new nolan movie, its new mcconaughey movie and so on, and I have nothing against nolan or matthew, i like them both.

And yes, i liked lucy, it was simple, enjoyable, I can appreciate it for what it is. I watched trailer few months ago and I knew exactly what to expect from that, and it delivered what the trailer was advertising.

Interstellar is 3h long and it feels so rushed in many moments, it also has some cringe worthy cliche quotes/dialogues I heared in movie recently. Its familly drama mixed with some poorly done scfi, and I actually liked more the drama part than the scfi one.

Fx are great bascially because you dont even notice them, everything fluidly blends with the rest of the visuals. Music is good but at some point its volume is juts ridiculous in comparison to the other sounds, also there were few moments with unnecessary "now its tense moment" sounds.

 Spoiler:

My 10/10 just from the top of my head:

alien (1st one), space odyssey, blade runner

10/10 movies, for me, are the ones that made me thing/feel something extraordinary, made me thought about stuff they portrayed for some time, and all that Interstellar achieved in that aspect is the fact that I just think "meh" about it 2hours after watching it in cinema. Drama part was too cliche to be really moving (except some great moments), scfi part was the weakest stuff in the script (how many times we will see that 'on paper' explanation ffs), despite being long as fuck it felt rushed with too muh jumping forward and leaving some events really underdeveloped.

Fuck, I think that Pandorum had a better premise (in its general concept, obviously the production values werent on a level of Interstellar) - its twists and ending was for me "holy fuck" moment and Interstellar was just a regular hollywood happy scfi movie with some familly drama throwed in the mix.

Pyojeok/ The Target (2014) - 7/10 it was entertaining with more blood and action, but the story from the French original Point Blank (2010) was better.

Now we get also a Bollywood version Laughing

The Expendables 3 - 6/10

It wasn't exactly a great movie, far from it. Very often it took itself too seriously and action scenes came off as bland and generic (the PG-13 rating didn't help really). All the new youngsters for the modern "audience" were completely useless (100% expendable xD) just as expected.

But! There were a few moments when the magic nostalgia factor worked, and those saved the day for me. The old school additions were nice (Ford, the underused Snipes and especially Mel Gibson. Banderas also Laughing). And like Chiv would say, there wasn't enough Dolph!
Sly played the usual badass character, Arnie on the other hand was a parody of himself, the random old friend who comes by for the lulz just to say a couple of classic lines, but since he made me smile, I consider that a plus. Very Happy

The Homesman - 5/10

What's the worse script you can think off at the top of your head? Mine is this, take 3 crazy women and drag them threw a western, not fun at all, too much screaming and pointless banter.

Very nice shit man

But some things were bad:
Where did all the apes came from for the attack? And how were there still so many after the attack Surprised
And that C4 explosion at the end seemed to go as planned Laughing

21 Jump Street - 7,5/10

I don't know why I was so reluctant to watch this movie (maybe Tatum was scaring me Cool Face), it turned out to be surprisingly enjoyable. Razz

Dumb fun, but of the good kind in my opinion, with lots of self-referential jokes, which is rare to find in a comedy these days. Imma grab #22 too later this week.

As I understand it they cut A LOT of footage and repackaged it as PG-13.

Theatrical cut is under 90 minutes, that's pathetic.

The Giver

4/10

Didn't really like it, and only watched it because I finished reading the book a few weeks back. Usually book to movie isn't good, but this was pretty terrible. There were some similarities, but the story and characters had changed quite a bit making it much worse.
