Near the end of Chapter 10. For me this game has lived up to it's hype. It's like Resident Evil 4 + Silent Hill + Saw all in one. Best survival horror game I've played Since Fatal Frame 4 ont the Wii.

Mikami has been involved with or created Resident Evil, Onimusha, Devil May Cry, Dino Crisis, Viewtiful Joe, Shadow of the Damned, Vanquish and now this. He is my second favorite developer of all time behind Hideo Kojima. I really hope he doesn't retire as been reported and he makes a sequel to this.

I rage quit at the end of chapter 10 boss. I'm able to get past his first form practically every time then he just grabs me on the second form (instant death) every time even though i shoot explosive bolts and other bolts at him and I have to do the whole thing over. Any tips?

Try to freeze him and shotgun him in his face up close and run away. Also don't hide inside of those rooms because he will 100% grab you.

you can stay in the room when he tries to grab you the first time, he wont manage.
after he pulls out, run out of the room and away from him.
once you get to the stage where he opens up the giant eye in his torso (mikami and his torso eyes Laughing) just shoot into it, but once he starts charging at you, run to the side.
he is quite easy to evade at that stage, just dont wait till the last second.

also, upgrade the sprint to the mxm since then you can sprint for 10 seconds and stamina recharges faster. most useful upgrade in the game.

Finished the game. The last chapter is fucking hard, so get prepared. You will get two rooms full of enemies + the chainsaw guy again but much harder. Than you get another room with two super hard box head guys. After that the final boss which is pretty easy.

im up to chapter 10 on the ps4 version and im in love, i just cannot understand why everyone is so bothered by the black bars, it has not in any second of the game annoyed me, and i feel like people are gonna pass by this masterpiece because of the negative shit i hear from almost everyone, i just dont get why it never bothered me yet people say its almost unplayable.

and chapter 9, oh god the nostalgia, u guys know what im talking about Smile

so far 9.5 from me, im literally in shock from the avg of 76 on metacritic, i came on here after chapter 9 to read what other people think and im just amazed its all about the black bars, lol.

i even thought the preview videos looked very choppy 30 fps gameplay, but thankfully it feels fine at 30 fps, it was the thing i was worried most about. It has that very rare pacing of "iv got to see whats next" cant put it down gameplay, when i was young i could play a game all day but since i have gotten older my attention span only lasts so long, i usually play a game for about an hour or 2 and then continue the next day, but this.. i cant put it down. resident evil 4.5 finally here Smile what a surprise

But in all seriousness it hasn't really bothered me much. The original Resident Evil, Deep Fear on Saturn and others are 1000 times worse and they don't even bother me. Then there's games like Deadly Premonition with intentional corny dialogue and I even enjoyed that.

I agree it's not that bad. I hate those Japanese games that add stupid EH, UHH, AHH between moments of silence. I do think this game had a bit of a slow start. I thought the first two chapters where meh.

i really hope this guy continues to make real survival horror games, its been so long since we had a real one, only thing that came close was the last of us and i beat that on the new survivor difficulty and still had a bunch a bullets by the end of the game.

this game is brutal with the scarce resources and i love every bit of it, i just really hope all the negative shit doesn't dissuade mikami from making another one, it sucks because you can tell alot of hard work and soul went into this game, im now at over +20 hours and still only chapter 13 and every chapter feels so different and unique , its a shame a design decision ruined this, and I personally wouldn't change a thing about the aspect ratio, i actually like the closed in claustrophobic feel, u never know who or what is directly behind u.

Also the shooting, nothing like seeing a huge hole through the enemys head after a perfectly placed headshot, pure awesome. Very Happy

Beat it last night. it's got 15 chapters. took me 20 hours to finish it. But I took my time. For some it may be more like 16-18 hours. But I recall chapter 9 and 10 being really long.

Completely agree with you on this entire post, but it's been said for about a year that this was supposed to be Mikami's last game that he was retiring. Let's hope he doesn't.

anybody tried Akumu mode yet? im pretty good at survivor horror games (TLOU grounded mode was a breeze for me, had tons of ammo left at the end) but i heard its ridiculous difficult 1 hit kills from all enemy's, now im pretty confident in these games, im just about to complete my first playthrough and even though items are scarce i almost have a maxed out inventory along with 50 bullets for my handgun, so much ammo that i even beat spider girls ass (and shes a hp sponge) which alot of people didnt recommend on my first playthrough

i basically think about every decision i make for a while (24 hours in and on chapter 14) i decided that the most important things to upgrade is your stock, cuz its a pain in the ass running into bullets when ur ammo is at max, i would of missed out on a ton of bullets if i left my handgun at level 4 at 25 bullets instead of level 5 of 50, i also plan ahead and if my health is very low i usually upgrade my life gauge instead of using a health vial as it also restores your health completely and is the main reason i always have 4 health vials available

im seriously thinking about giving it a try but most people that beat it say they never want to play that mode again ever, lol.

totally disagree, didnt up at it all, had 12 magnums round remaining at the end of the game with a fully maxed magnum, i was saving it because i heard the game threw crazy boss fights at the end, didnt see any so saved my rounds.

why would sprint be useful? once ur in a battle situation u actually want to slow down so that enemys can catch up to you and than as soon as they are about to strike hold down sprint for about a second, after that they are in the attack animation and u can easily just shoot a napalm bolt and take down a whole army, sprint is a waste imo unless your just very impatient and want to get places fast. also maxing capacity for all your weapons is useful because its the same as upgrading stock.

if u would see how much ammo i had for all my guns total u would be amazed, along with health items, i had to skip over tons of ammo at the end of the game, stock is much more important to hold it all

also killed all optional bosses and didnt even use traps (except fire) at all in the game, i rather build bolts Smile

I know nobody cares but im 1 badass motherfucker cuz i just beat akumu mode

hands down the hardest gaming experience of my life 1 hit 1 kill with some unbelivable long checkpoints on certain stages, but even in this mode my inventory was maxed out, i just dont try to use a bullet unless absolutely necessary so im never even close to being out of ammunition, this game will go down as one of my all time favorites as i rarely play through a game twice, especially a 20 hour game, but i really feel that we finally got a proper sequel to res evil 4

and yes its cheesy and yes i think the story flat out sucks (it was good until nothing was explained) but the gameplay is second to none for me

Congrats dude. The game is pretty tough at times but Akumu mode sounds nasty. I personally havent completed this game at all yet! Ive just started chapter 12 so I think Im near the end but it kinda got lost when I started playing Lord of the Fallen and now Assassin's Creed Unity :/
