That might be why it's not as terrible as Ubisoft's in-house engines
It's almost completely rewritten and it's derived from CryEngine 1, meaning FarCry 1's engine. No Crysis 1/2/3/.../-era code has made it in.
Ubisoft also have "Lead" which is their old-ass Unreal Engine 2/2.5 based engine used for the original three Splinter Cell games that they just kept upgrading instead of ditching for UE3 (or 4, nowadays). I haven't played Blacklist but I think the consensus is that it looked and performed pretty good? Conviction on the other hand was a little disappointing. (I Am Alive's visuals do not count due to its low budget nature and troubled development - still awesome game )

Ubi PR is going to be: "We just want to avoid the debates, Steam or Uplay, so we decided no more Steam".

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
