I doubt it. Every AC game has a uPlay key, and if you used a US VPN you had the "cd-key" option in properties of your game, you just put that in uPlay and it's done.

Like so:

This could be starting point to some really crafty and inventive creepypastas. Laughing Like the one featuring the Luigi's Mansion game and the hanging shadow (this particular Internet myth came to mind the second I saw the gif). People'll begin asking themselves: "Why did he do that?", "Was that intended by the developers?", "Is the software getting conscious and starting to do leave indirect and secretive clues as to what should happen to Ubisoft if they continue on their path of further milking the franchise?"... Laughing

That's an old gif from the XBONE beta, the game didn't have any music, fighting system and some of the textures.

God damn it, I was ready to go on a tirade saying that Ubisoft in all of its might decided to have 2 preloads (for US and the rest of the world) on different dates, then I noticed it was a troll thread. Very Happy

38 GB pre-load on Uplay.

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

It should already have started, restart the Steam client if you're still not able to begin the download and it should work. Smile

Nope, nothing here:

No reports about preload starting on Steam forums either.

I saw the first hour walkthrough on Youtube and graphics (especially character models) look a lot better compared to previous games which was expected, but the gameplay itself seems to be as boring and unoriginal as ever - climb towers to sync, collect loot from boxes, walk with someone or chase them etc. Usual AC bullshit from 2007... They seriously need to take some time off, at least 2 years, to develop something that people actually get excited about. This annual release nonsense is absolutely ridiculous...

Does anyone have any sort of link/reading for "the story thus far..." Or youtube link...

I feel like I need a refresher to catch up to the current events.

Big story spoilers:
