Shits really fucked, havent been down like this for a while now but Im barely holding on as is. Can hardly do my job, have to take breaks quite often and just now my bitch of a boss said I've had too many sick days and warned me about it.
Im starting a new job next week as a network technician which is something im really looking forward to but Im kinda worried about my current lack of energy, focus and meaning.

Life should be great, have a nice apartment, a girlfriend I love very much and new job but I cant shake this feeling of complete emptiness and boredom, everyday feels bleak and I just wanna go home and lie on my bed, doing nothing and not thinking about anything...

Anyone else have this or know wtf Im going through Crying or Very sad

Sounds like classic depression. The problem with it is, paradoxically, the best things to do are the things you're least able to cope with.

Hope you come through it.

Seasonal disorder... well documented.

its more common than people notice and many of us get it, just find something you really love to do and focus on that and burn through the time with that. It will eventually pass/get easier

relapse is common as well all one can do is pucker up and muddle through.

I bet you feel like a bear right? and wish to go to your cave and sleep through the winter.

But I take good care of myself, I go to the gym and do alot of tough training, I run and try to be active with my gf. Also I eat very healthy, no meat several times a week, alot of veggies, fruits, make healthy fruit and vegetable smoothies with my gf and so on. On occasion we drink some wine, eat some good chocolate
We go to the movies, try to be out in nature. So its not that, i dont know whats up with me but its becoming a real problem. A few times each day im reminded of how empty I feel, and how much life hurts right now when it really shouldnt.

i figured u was just saying the other stuf as what people expect u to have, if what u say above is true then ye you have to figure out what triggers these thoughts and try and remove those triggers, try new shit, new holiday locations, explore, leave comfort bubble i guess, have a plan/goal together with the gf.

I'd say... either try to find the real reason or learn to deal with the feeling as in: not give it much importance.

Do not blame it on the seasons... that will get you no where and frankly it is a lousy excuse for something deeper. Hope you can confront yourself with the real issue.

And how do you know this Very Happy do not go saying you are an expert because you are in sweden and jacked on zolof whatever it is, the doctors in sweden seem to love throwing that shit about to anyone who might be depressed.

Very Happy

If one is generally unhappy but has everything else in life covered its probably just sheer boredom and one needs something more exciting to do. Anyone who has lived a little gone through growing up to education then onto family home and kids will meet the same problems at some point.

You just have to dust yourself off now and again and come to see you actually have it better than a fair amount of people.

No I'd say kids are really the last thing on my mind right now. How can I take care of them when I'm barely holding on myself. I often think how lucky I am not to have any kids at this stage of my life and if I ever will have any. Also you wrote about being preprogrammed. whats moire so than marrying and having kids to fill a void?

FUCK OFF Moose, I'm Belgian! Laughing
So wooptidoo, I live 2 years in Sweden... that surely must have shaped my thinking compared to the 30 years I had in Belgium).

And the second part you're actually saying the same... The changing of day and it getting colder isn't the problem. Hence why I said: look for something deeper... deeper than it being the seasons doesn't mean it's quite deep at all! Seeing Seasons are a rather shallow thing to put blame on (A big IMO ofcourse).

And no I'm not an expert

Do you do all this because you want to and you enjoy it or do you do it because its the "proper" thing to do?

I don't know you but as i am reading it, you're doing everything you're supposed to do (societies view) nice place, gf, exercise, good job, but for who are you doing this?

Battling depression can be as simple as getting a dog sometimes, watching them play with other dogs, wagging their tale, tong out, seeing how happy they are from a simple game of catch and meeting other dogs can make the owner happy as well and more appreciative of the simple things in life.

Some parts of the advice in here seems a bit narrow minded to me (I have suffered from depression most of my adult life). Also getting a dog would not be a good idea imo, 10-15 years or more commitment to help get through a bout of depression?

All these fucking replies Very Happy

The OP has not even confirmed any sort of depression, everyone is opening replies are about depression is bad, your depression this and that, he has not even said he has been to see about it and diagnosed with it.

:O

Humans all go through down periods, just because he his having a moment in his life does not mean he is clinically depressed. You are more likely to make him worse lol

o/
i've been fucked up for a solid year now
which is unusual for me since i haven't been properly depressed for over a decade
last fall lead me to quit my job at the end of the year out of frustration
i tried to focus on getting shit together for a different life trajectory but i haven't been able
i've just been burning money, sitting at home with my dick in hand
and it's only got worse recently
now i expect i'll end up back at my old job at the end of the year
full circle, a wasted year

Euhm no Moose... Seasonal disorder IS a depression as is 'feeling blue'

It's not because you think of only of the more severe versions when you hear depression that it is it's only definition.

These feelings usually last a few days at most and then you move ahead. When emptiness and despair take hold and won’t go away, you may be depressed. Unlike the temporary “blues”, the lows of depression make it difficult for you to function and enjoy the life you once did.

^^ certainly shows that "the blues" is nothing like the lows of depression..

two different things mr morph..

Edit: "True depression is much more than a passing bout of the blues. It is with you 24/7 and can be seriously debilitating"

again showing that the blues is nothing like the lows of depression..

Very Happy

Nah, read up about it

Edit: Actually in all honesty I think we are talking of something different... I was talking of the feeling blue you assigned to Seasonal dissorder. But later on you describe just the normal feeling down (which doesn't fit with the Seasonal crap FFS! don't jump from one end to another!)

Well if you really feel bad, go and see a professional Wink Talk to somebody who has seen this, they will give you valid advice on how to proceed. Just hang on, and don't do anything stupid.

We all go through ups and downs, that's life. Somehow seeing the list of cool pew pew movies always helped me move on (I mean have you seen the marvel movies to come?! Have you?!! Very Happy)
