WTF?
What's next, a 100GB game?

Not to say that I have a shitty connection (which I do Razz), but could anyone give a rational explanation of why is this so big?

5-6 hour game, eh?
How big will witcher 3 be? 250 GB?

Seems it cuts texture detail when you increase the settings above recommended, I'll find a way around it eventually.

Recommended:

Settings:

And what happens to texture quality:

EDIT: Guess the game just loves VRAM, disabling the two cache settings for shadows ensures enough VRAM for textures to load at full detail.

EDIT: Either the game is well optimized or it's not very demanding to begin with, I'm hitting 60 FPS constantly despite SSAA, SMAA 2x ("filmic") and the other stuff.

Mostly bullshit file organization/development. They can just throw 50 gigs on bluray drives so why care about the size. Bought another 2 tb hdd few months ago, every shitty game is now 30-50 gigs, should buy bigger one Very Happy Mad

In addition to disabling both cache options, I had to disable motion blur and depth of field for textures to load properly, weird.

No I think it just runs out of VRAM (leak?) so either sacrifice some other setting that affect VRAM usage or lower texture detail.
(Seems the game also reserves some 500 - 600 MB as a cache for something thus the in-game VRAM amount reported being lower than the GPU total.)

I have 4 gigs vram, it cuts to 3.400. Set absolutely everything to the max with 2x supersampling (r9 290). Just checking 1st location, hires textures load after 2-3 secs (glass fragments on the floor). Overall performance is really great, looks good also (nothing mind blowing, at least so far). Loading times are little bit long (I imagine it will be shitlong on consoles).

What I'm always happy about is that it fluidly alt-tabs to windows and back to the game Very Happy

4 GB should be OK, 3 GB should be too really but since it takes a chunk for some cache thing it seems that loading the textures will take a bit longer, SSAA, screen resolution and the two shadow cache settings could probably be reduced if required, though I'd try to keep the screen res at native if possible.
(Temporal SMAA will not fully eliminate aliasing but SSAA will greatly increase VRAM usage and those shadow cache things will also up VRAM usage but will alleviate stuttering and can also improve loading times although the game can stutter during cutscenes if that option is on.)

EDIT: Haven't measured VRAM usage that much but the game does have about 23.6 GB of texture data so streaming is probably used for loading and unloading that but I guess it still fills up very quickly.

There are tons of online shooters that are a 100x better than this IMHO.....some are even free to play.....you would still have to D/L and Install....$65 is still too steep of a price!!??
