Map? after driving around for awhile in both gta3 and vice city i had the map in my head
It didnt take long at all but im sure this will take abit longer since it's much bigger. Although i know people that have a harder time remembering how to get to a specifik location without a map that tells them the spot. Luckely i can manage without it.
They wont rip anything when they make it fit on a dvd5 disc.
Well useless stuff like multilanguage if that is in. Downsampling some movie maybe etc. But they wont take out such important things like music, speech etc.
Thats what cdrips are for.
And remember, it does not have to be a full dvd9 disc just because it uses dvd9. Dvd9 is needed when a dvd5 is not enough so in theory it can be 10mb over the capacity of a dvd5 and therefor they need dvd9

what idiot would rip the music from gta vc/sa eh ? ... and for people who can't work there way round gta3/vc without a map should not ever be allowed out alone
I doubt it would have any actually other languages on it . But i guess they could downsample some of the audio to make it fit on dvd5 , double the music and 4 times the size of audio of gta 3 . i guess that would roughly cut it at about 5 gigs at most . this was mentioned months ago though much can change and rockstar do keep tight lipped . lets hope

I haven't followed the PS2 scene in a while, but I have a DVD-DL burner and Magic 3 chip in my PS2... if there is a DVD9 rip of the game, are you saying that just burning in on a DVD-DL disc will not work with my current chip? I highly doubt the game will be much bigger than 5gb anyway.
MIRROR PLATINUM PRO RITEK G04 Dye DVD-R's are good stuff ... That Drive 3 Release that was out was crap (Well it was for me anyway), It Jumped like mad and I burned at 1x speed as well...
Yes, Most games are fine, but I have all the GTA's as Origianls so Im mainly buying this to complete my Origianl collection, have full quality vids, all the sounds, all the options, the Map etc
Maybe to fit it onto DVD5 they will remove the 2 player option>??? ?????

But it does not have to be the media that sucked. It can be your ps2 or even your burner. Some games demands alot more of the laser in the ps2.
I actually have driver 3 also and it works like a charm for me, although it sucks but that is another story
A 2 player option does not take up much space. It's the same game but with one more player instead.

thats one bold statement.. you must have much rock solid proven information on the game to be able to do that ... would you please share ?
from a guess the music 8 cd's worth could fit into 400mb and still retain very good near cd quailty at @50 mb per album (seems that their are not that many tracks per cd) plus a bit of radio talking so maybe 600mb -800mb ... and i bet the videos take a lot of room in comparison

Your probably right, alltough they could probably rip it and remove everything that isn't essential for the game.

Read my post above. The disc can be 10mb over the capacity of a DVD5 disc for all we know and therefor a DVD9 is needed.
It does not have to be a full DVD9 disc you know.
Im guessing its gonna be over more than just 10mb over...
Guess how many Music Tracks this game has ..... 150 thats about 600 minutes of music and thats not even Including the Adverts and talking / chat stations

One of the ways to easily fit this game on a dvd5 would be to skip songs. Who needs all those songs anyway, i know i sure dont need that many songs, not even close

I always wanted to play this game, but didn't want to haggle around for proper controller support on the PC. I'll check this out and it's releasing today.
Also time to check if my 360 still works. It's been dormant for a while now.
