|
 |
Hi,
I need your advice.
I currently have GTX Titan and am using it for 1080p gaming on my 27" monitor.
Recently, I have read very good reviews for GTX 970 and am thinking replacing my Titan with GTX 970 SLI.
As I do like to play games, but have very little time and will probably have even less in near future, is is worthy to go from Titan to GTX 970 SLI ?
Please give me your advice !
ThanX !

Yes, ok..but what are the issues with SLI ? Why do you think its a problem ?
GTX 980 is on same level as Titan in performance, so I would like something faster, but yet again, I don't have much time anymore for gaming. However, on the other hand, when I do want to play some game in period ahead, I want to play it in 1080p, or 2K resolutions (with Nvidia DSR) without any performance issues.
Please advise !

Sli and 3-sli has always worked well for me...however, back to subject - imo its a waste of money for you to swap card since thats a pretty damn good card and as you said, you arent gonna play much anyway so..
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

A Titan is already pretty good. Keep it for a year and buy 970/980's successor.

it only causes compatibility troubles. why to do that when You can have one powerfull solution. well maybe the price is a good reason

You were dumb enough to get a Titan in the first place, so why are you asking here?
You might as well try finding a second Titan instead, because selling the one you have is only going to lose you money, whereas you might be able to find a cheap Titan since that thing was useless from the moment it was released.

sabin1981 wrote: | Yeah, I just tried TR and downsampling works fine (massive performance hit though, goes from 60 locked to a fluctuating 40-60, pretty much same as running 2xSSAA since that's effectively what it is) Still, even at 1080, it's nice to play TR "Ultimate" even with FloppyHairFX and get locked 60 \o/
So yeah, seems it's a Mass Effect issue and it would be solved by Gedosato's mouse fixes but I can't get it working with Gedosato either! Grr. Others reckon it works fine but not here Oh well, nV 4xSGSSAA works just fine and achieves much the same result. Add that to the 4GB texpack and ini fixes for shadowing quality? It still holds up even now, six years later. |
Well.. I think SGSSAA should achieve a better result due to the "coordinates" it samples from (provided there's no blurring due to incompatibilities with the post-processing the game uses) so if it works for you, that's perfect.
But DSR/Downsampling/OGSSAA should be the second best thing.

The downside for SSAA is that you will lose a bit of detail (that is, it won't look quite as sharp). It's the same for downsampling (perhaps slightly worse), except Nvidia's DSR has some filtering options that could perhaps counter that effect - I am not aware of the specifics of the options myself, so I don't know for sure.
For Mass Effect I played around with drive-level texture LOD settings and SweetFX sharpening to somewhat negate the effect.
Other than that, in some games (where it actually works) there is a rare visual glitch with SSAA where there will be a sort of bright flickering halo outlining certain objects. This is where downsampling has the advantage.
