Really, really liked my Ipad Air until ios 8. Now its like an old ice cream sandwich android tablet.
Ok maybe im exaggerating, but it runs a lot worse. Buyer beware.

The Mini 3 got almost 0 attention, which makes me believe that its only worthwhile addition is the TouchID sensor. Oh well, that makes the Mini 2 a more interesting option, because I still haven't bought a smaller tablet yet for all sorts of reasons.

The mini and mini 2 are very similar. Not worth the extra price for the Touch ID, unless you travel with you iPad. On my Air, I set up a long password, but it locks every four hours, so I have good security while still able to use it on a whim. Since the mini 3 is still A7 processor, it's not worth it, better get a cheaper mini 2.

I do travel with my iPad obviously, that's exactly why I want a smaller one
I was gonna get the Nexus 7 2013, but a colleague of mine says ASUS screwed up the QA and that there's a chance of getting one with a small gap on the sides.
The Nexus 9 looks great at least (waiting for reviews), but it's still 8.9", not sure if that's enough of a shrink for me.

This is probably the first time that a new iteration of Apple product has come out that DOESN'T make me feel bad about owning the last gen.
Perfectly happy with my iPad Air 1 for the moment. Might get the lady the iPad Air 2 though...
