So he thought it was pong - that's his idea of gaming in 2001-2002 - but he claims they were "breaking new ground" and "risky"? Rolling Eyes

The entire thing sounds like PR

If this true, this shows how low companies can go.

I can understand DLC and exclusive deals.... even Tomb raider Deal dwarfed compared to this. but for god sake, interfering and limiting technical stuffs on competitor is the lowest you can get.

Jade Raymond is leaving Ubisoft

Quote:
Ubisoft Toronto managing director leaving to pursue "other ambitions," will be replaced by Alexandre Parizeau

"I've spent 10 extraordinary years at Ubisoft, and I am proud to have been part of many of the best teams in the industry making truly remarkable games," Raymond said. "This is one of the hardest decisions of my career, but the Toronto studio is strong and on a solid path. I'm confident that now is a good time for me to transition leadership of the studio to Alex and to pursue my other ambitions and new opportunities. Stay tuned for more on what's next for me, but for now, I'd like to thank Ubisoft for its partnership through the years, and I wish them the very best in all their next endeavors."

It's only because of that comic that was released around the same time as Jade's time in the spotlight back in 2007 that I even remember her.

I'll never forget that one. Laughing

Who's the 'Unholy Abomination Trio'? Does it have anything to do with #GamerGate?

Not to be rude, but this seems unnecessarily bait-y. Either you're looking to start something, or you're not, but either way, it seems pointless to post.

Also, there's (apparently) been sexual harassment/sexism at other studios (Trendy Entertainment, for instance), so wouldn't you feel like a prat if it turned out there was something behind the scenes like that?

I'm sorry, but I'll post wherever and whatever I like. Another female leaving a studio is most definitely something that will cause an uproar, especially as she hasn't mentioned why yet - hence my comment. If you don't like it, please, feel free to put me on ignore, because I won't stop posting something you dislike.

Considering how much crap Jade got several years back, including from sexist people like Bob (oh look, wants her to go into porn... because that's definitely not going to play into the stereotype of sexist boy gamers, right) I wouldn't be surprised if that was the reason.. so no, I wouldn't feel like a prat. I would still find it hilarious to hear the Trio decrying gamers as misogynist scum. Gamers. Games. It's all games, PC or Console, so if *I* feel something is on topic in relation to games then I will post it.

*shakes head*

It was just a post to stay on-topic, man. Take a step-back and ask yourself if what you posted relates to Ubisoft. Considering no-one's even commented on the gi.biz article linked to above, I doubt this is going to make waves excepting for those who want it to. Like, maybe, yourself?

*shrugs*

Yeah, this is a total non-story that nobody cares about and nobody is following. Absolutely not.

Let's see...

IGN
Polygon
Yahoo News
Giantbomb
NeoGAF
Metro
WeGotThisCovered

That just on the first page of results. What I posted was in relation to the news, which was posted in this thread, how is that *not* on topic? And yes, as expected, Polygon's comments are full of people speculating about why she had the job ("female quota") or whether she left because of salacious reasons - and IGNs comments are just further proving the stereotype about gamers, all - like Bob - going on about masturbating to her and comments about her looks. This shit we DON'T NEED. All it does is play into the hands of the Trio.

"Woman leaving studio" does not equal assertion that "3 women in the industry will make it out to be because of misgynistic pigs".

Like I said originally, it was unnessarily bait-y. You want to post that when they actually make it about sexism? Go for it. As it stands, though, it's uncalled for, and drags your issues with sexism in the industry into a news-story where it may not actually be relevant.

Ironically, you get quite irate when the games media does this self-same thing. Go figure. Laughing

Ah, but, see, no. No it really doesn't.

And this is now spnning quite far off into a political/gg discussion, so let's just leave it at the fact that I said my piece, and you said your's? Yeah? Smile

Hey, I already said my piece.. you were the one that dragged it out because you were looking for an argument. Notice you didn't call out Bob on his sexist bullshit, but rather got annoyed at me posting "off topic" (I guess masturbating to her is "on topic") So yes, let's just drop it.
