Ah, it's out?

fake edit: wat! I just read that they found the original film elements of the deleted scenes? Last I heard about this they were saying "this VHS is all we have to source the deleted scenes from". Good!!

edit:

What they were saying in 2013:

Quote:
"We haven't even started yet. I mean, we are going to do a new hi-def transfer of the original film and we'll do what can be done with the rough footage to try and make it less jarring but there's no film, the film has gone. I mean, that's the thing the fans don't understand most of the time, is that studios never kept the daily footage, the raw footage; they just threw it away... We felt the Cabal Cut was such a fan-favourite that it was worth going and acquiring it and we're going to do everything that we can to make it look and sound fantastic.
"I don't think we're going to be able to [include the regular cut], unfortunately... Yeah, it is [a rights issue]."

2014:

Quote:
"We did a brand-new transfer [of the theatrical cut], about a month ago, from the inter-positive that Warner Bros. had, because the only other HD transfer that Warner had was an interlaced transfer and there was no way we were going to use that for this release, so yeah we did a brand-new transfer so the theatrical cut is from the new transfer and then the Director's Cut will be using that new HD transfer and then, when we transferred the missing footage we transferred it from the original camera negative so actually that footage may look a bit better than the actual movie does, because, you know, an inter-positive is a generation down from the negative...

"When we originally contacted Warner Bros. they gave us a list of what they had and it was all the materials that they had here in Burbank and I just kinda pleaded with them - I said, 'Can you please look in deep storage?' and so they said, 'OK, we'll get back to you,' and they came back to me in a few weeks with this massive list of film elements... So I went through the list and found and checked off those boxes that were listed as 'trims' from the film, so we had absolutely no idea what that could be; it could be, you know, scenes that are in the theatrical version that got trimmed at some point or other, so we didn't know. So they shipped the stuff from the Mid-West all the way out here and, yeah, I mean it was over 600 boxes and each box had just a little film reel so we had to string all of those together so that we could run them through the equipment and... the first day we were sitting there and we ran the first reel and here's the stop-motion footage of this creature, this woman - she looks like a panther - riding this creature and it was like, 'Oh my God, we found it.' This was just the beginning - and the more and more we started looking at the reels we started finding - I mean, we found footage that isn't in either version of the film - we found more footage that's been shot... There's a bedroom scene between Peloquin and, Shuna? There's like, yeah, it's amazing... We found that footage, we found just tons of footage. And some of it won't have audio, but we're doing the best we can to find audio, and I think in places where we don't have audio we may use the original script to bring up subtitles so at least you know what the people are saying."

Loved it !! only reason its not a 10 is its unnecessary sociopathy. I can see why its there just feel it could have been so much more mind-blowing without it.

Planes fire and rescue

Only downloaded it because I wanted something bright and light to watch this evening, and it actually wasn't bad. It was still pretty "kiddy" focused as opposed to "family", but the characters weren't bad, it had no cringeworthy music sequences that usually populate these kinds of films, the story wasn't bad, the humor was generally light and tolerable, and overall the film was inoffensive. This is miles better than the first planes movie, and as good or better than a lot of other animated movies.

5.5/10

I won't even bother downloading it for my two little lads...

The Giver 7/10

I really didn't expect much from it and ended up quite enjoying it. Only the ending being rather weak, but then again I wouldn't know how they could end up doing it better. Mostly due to (like others said) a bit rushed, so I don't think they could tell everything they wanted to tell.

 Spoiler:

Edit: wonder if I'd be more satisfied with the book, I liked the idea at least. Bit like with Ender's game, I saw something in it, even though the movie was quite mediocre so I ordered the books. Read 2.5 books from the series and have to say: boy that movie sucks balls now Not that they have no faults, but those are easily overlooked when you look back at the movie.

Transformers AoE - 2/10 - CGI was better than the previous ones (not a big mess this time), cast was good enough, the first scene was cool. The rest though, was crap. The entire design philosophy is "shit looks cool". Autobots still have a retarded personality, humor is still moronic, I still don't understand WTF humans are doing in this movie ("Öptimus I will help you with my tiny alien gun!"), story is idiotic, most characters are idiotic, explosions are idiotic, dinosaurs were idiotic......

Overal, pretty fucking idiotic.

So I watched Premature for the lulz. Went in expecting some shitty teen comedy like those that kept coming out but I was pleasantly surprised to see Alan Tudyk and a funny plot. It's basically Groundhog Day / that movie with Tom Cruise but with a kid in dire need of some control Laughing Sounds shittier than it is, trust me. Had a few loud laughs. 6.5/10.

The Equalizer 6/10

Somewhat fun and entertaining, though a bit tiring in the end. Some scenes are a bit brutal. Denzel is completely OP (which is what makes the movie fun, if you dont take it seriously).

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Annabelle - 4/10 "True story" crap. Boring, predictable, cheap-o effects, possessed shit 101 script. The best part was when the female protagonist fell on the floor and her fake pregnancy belly turned to the side Smile

The One I Love

That was a pleasant surprise! A good mix of comedy, drama and fantasy on a serious subject. Quite a mindfuck also. Don't watch it alone as the best part is after the movie ends, so everyone shares their explanation/opinion.

so far i think x2 is the best one of the lot. great action, great cast, great story, it was really well balanced and expertly made, elevating the looked-down upon genre of comic-book movies to something much higher, and i think even today it still holds up nicely... im not sure how i would rank all the other movies, but x2 definitely sits at the top for me.

Looks great but the plot is nothing new and falls apart halfway the movie.
Banderas did a great performance but the supporting cast was pretty much shit.
