I got to about the end of chapter 6 and I have no motivation to play any further.
Gameplay:
- It's not scary. There is no horror, only gore.
- The AI is flat out stupid. You can literally bump into them and they won't notice you. It's not scary or even fun if the enemies are really weak and stupid. You can run around and easily avoid being hit.
- Questionable design choices like the forced animation when you go through a door. You can be attacked while you are walking through a door, and you can't control your character.
- Too much action. Not really survival, just shooting waves of enemies in the head. It was fun when you only had a knife, but you get ridiculous weapons and the enemies don't get any stronger.
- It's boring. The story is bleh, I couldn't care less about finding out what happens later on. They never question what is going on, they act as if it's normal.
- The world feels empty. You can barely interact with anything, there are a few destructible wooden boxes and that's about it. Everything else is static, including lanterns/camp fires etc. A bit disappointing.
The only bits I enjoyed were the "Silent Hill" style bits (They were a lot of fun, but it's only a small portion of the game.) with decaying walls, blood everywhere, real threats Spoiler: | the invisible enemies were a nice addition. the hairy multiple legged spider woman encounters were fun |
Performance:
- Performance is terrible. It sits around 30fps most of the time, but I have seen drops. i7 3770k, gtx 670 4gb, 10gb ddr3 ram
- It doesn't look great, more like 360/ps3 graphics than "next gen"
- Cut scene textures are laughable. The long cut scene at the end of the prologue is cringe worthy.
- I'm not a fan of the forced aspect ratio. I know you can remove the black bars, but the fov is unplayable.

Removing the black bars and fixing the FoV is kinda pointless until they fix the performance issues. If I can't even get close to 60 FPS with the black bars and low FoV I sure as hell won't get it just because those two issues are fixed.
Fucking disgrace is what it is, coming from Alien Isolation with 120FPS to this garbage that runs at 40 at best

Yea, same here. just finished chapter 3. turning down the graphics doesn't even make a difference. Shitty coding / engine...

I am in the big village, where there's some freak held with chains in the barn and something really pissing off happened. I've spend so much time to kill all retards and there were just 2 left that were in the same spot. So I approached them in sneak mode and it said sneak kill so I pressed the button and my character went for the kill but the camera stayed where I was standing - WTF! And it never moved, I was able to control my character and everything but the camera refused to move away from that spot so roughly 40 min down the drain.
And seriously, I am already burned out. The game not scary at all but all this cat and mouse game is very tiresome - its basically this - you don't have enough ammo for all enemies so you have to babysit them around the map while getting under beds and entering in lockers and when the enemy turns his back you go for the kill. And this is repeated 9999999999 times in every area so far. Its not enjoyable as Splinter Cell because you can't melee kill/grab the enemy just like that, you have to be in the perfect position for anal penetration. In the same time you can't shoot your way out ala RE4 because there's not enough ammo.
Its a nice game but I dunno... there's something in it that its not that smooth like the other games. It seems forced. All my actions are forced. I felt like I am doing everything because I have no other choice. In Cockviction or Cocklist I can use 10 different approaches but here its always the same - you can't do frontal so roam around the entire map until you manage to caught every enemy from the back.

A hatchet is a one-time use weapon?
The guy carries and uses a knife for stealth kills. Can I equip that as a weapon somehow? It doesn't show in the inventory.

It really is survival horror. The horrors from those gigantic black bars are real.

And how you killed all the assholes in the village without hiding? I broke all boxes in the map and I've got 8 rounds for the pistol, thats it, no more ammo for that part.

Like I said, pay attention to the possibilities the environment offers. Don't disarm every trap, I always leave a few strategic ones in place, and later on if I didn't need them I disarm then and get the materials.

How I am supposed to activate the door like spikes trap? There was no button or anything.
Btw I don't play CoD. I prefer semi realistic shooters like RO and Insurgency.
