is this customizable? i only need fov fix, don't want it altering my game in any way.

In his Rage plugin there is a FOV slider and hands FOV fix.
In his wolfenstein plugin however there is only aspect ratio fix...so it's game based.

I suspect in Evil within plugin he might add fov slider so you don't need to alter anything else.

He will have the fix soon I hope.

One of his screenshots:
http://iforce.co.nz/i/5221gwlm.mbj.jpg

Looking good so far. Might have to wait until he has done the plugin.

Fucking awesome, funny how devs cant fix their own shit if someone else does it nearly in a day Laughing

Hayden´s post in Flawless Widescreen forum

Quote:
Still very much a work in progress... has already consumed a significant chunk of time.

Fixed so far:

- Correct Aspect Ratio
- Remove Letterbox
- Maintain Movies at correct Aspect
- Correct black screen overlay
- Correct HUD Aspect
- FOV correction (vert- after removing letterbox)
- Bloom (too bright) corrected.

To do:

- Loading screen
- Improve the FOV fix as it jerks sometimes between scenes or transitions.
- Try and stop the player being shifted too far left or right of center.

The widescreen fix?

I don't think it will alter performance much, might have some small drop but having fixed FOV, aspect ratio and other stuff is definitively worth it in my opinion.
(It might affect performance if the game truly cuts off the stuff rendered where the black bars were but I don't think it'll be much of a difference in framerate.)

I have to admit that it's satisfying to see the IPC denialists cry. The amount of stupidity in the hardware section at the releases of Ivy Bridge and Haswell was hard to bear ("Intel is soo stuuupid. My Sandy Bridge can reach 200MHz more than Hadwell. Intel needs to invent a time machine and prevent SB from being made, or their business is finished.").

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to excuse the game's CPU hunger. I just enjoy seeing what high end CPUs can do when push comes to shove.

well, 5h20 mn in the game and i just finished chapter 3 Smile ( love to sneak and check everywhere)

I play with the bars and honestly i forgot about them ... it plays really well and smooth ( don't care about fps as long as i can enjoy the game smoothly)

just a question what did you upgrade in priority ?

You basically posted my thoughts! I'm having such a great time with this, just finished a nearly 4-hr session which is something I rarely do with any game (Dark Souls 2 and Alien: Isolation would be the last titles where I did that) Razz Doing as much stealth as possible, just like you. Just reached chapter 4.

About your question. I started upgrading critical for the revolver twice (I'm getting one-shot kills on normal enemies fairly often now), and I also upgraded sprinting time for easier escapes when overwhelmed. The default value is way too low and Castellanos gets tired like he was a grandma. Now I'm upgrading my spare ammo capacities for all the weapons. I consider stuff like rate of fire and accuracy a waste of time (and green jelly) Wink

i updated accuracy on pistol one time , sprint one time, spare ammo capacities for the crossbow, life two times, serynge powers and carrying numbers ... well maybe i should invest in critical next ...

Well, this still holds true generally. Performance is about 200mhz up each generation and average overclocks about 200mhz down. Performance has been fairly stagnant for overclockers.

I tried playing at 30 fps. Couldn't even last 5 minutes. I don't know how anyone does it.

Uncapped the fps and it hovers between 45-60 fps, and so far I've only played a bit into Chapter 2. The fluctuations are annoying but oh well. I'll play a bit more and see if it gets interesting.

1920x1080
SMAA
All other settings on or high, except reflections are turned off

i5 2500k @ 4.5
GTX 680 2 gb
8 gb ram

The graphic options are a joke. Then again, so is idtech5. This is the last game to use this shit engine and good riddance. The game doesn't even look good. I turned off the film grain and it only exposed the ugliness even more, so I turned the grain back on Very Happy.

if mikami was still at capcom, they wouldve used a modified version of the mt framework, atleast a far better engine than idtech5 shit.

but fuck capcom, they lost all their creative minds, one of them creating some of the most fun games in platinum games.

PLayed it for first hour and really dig it. It looks fantastic. The lighting and detail is great. i like how wet and organic stuff feels. Atmosphere and stuff thats going on is fantastic.
Not sure if I will switch to easy later on, but for now survival is ok.

30fps is ofc fine with me. I am playing with 360 controller and that game plays jsut fine locked. It was a tad bit rought with mouse, but with controller its fine. I am running at highest settings obviouslt with smaa on but there is a tiny bit of aa left. Do ssaa or msaa work ? And the games dont feel like idtech engine at all with all this dynamic lighting. Rage was all baked

And black bars kinda help the atmosphere but are really bothersome and make me motion sick or something. I feel disoriented all the time...
edit: oh and the game crashed my pc once. Grey vertical bars through whole screen and lock up.

These fucking black bars actually get in the way of playing. I keep missing items on the ground, or have issues with seeing enemies over a wall when sneaking around. The black bars and 30 fps lock (and wildly inconsistent FPS with it disabled) are very disappointing in an otherwise great game that feels like Resident Evil 4.

Leaving fps/aspect ratio/fov etc etc issues aside, which I'm sure I can adapt to if the game is great.. how is the game?

I'm a huge fan of Mikami's Resident Evil / Remake, Dino Crisis and Resident Evil 4. Does it live up to them???

It feels like a real successor to Resident Evil 4. The main difference so far is it also has a stealth system where you can hide from enemies and then sneak up and kill them.

Finished it.

Not a bad game but definitely not as good as Alien: Isolation, IMO.

To me Alien is 8.5/10, so TEW is a 7/10.
